Why are the faces of the mayor, admin and council's faces on the city homepage, and every other page featured on the city website?
Why are their faces larger than the marina, bandshell and other places of interest shown?
And lastly, why are they all grouped together in a Dollar Store picture frame format?
How does any of that attract new people and businesses to the city?
It's long overdue that we start "Working together to build a better website".

No one will lose their job, no one will lose their pension, no one will get jail time. I certainly do pray for the families of the 9 poker machine bandits. Yes I'm sure it's an embarrassment! But it's poker machines for crying out loud! Get a life!

But it is only poker video machines. But is was only $1.1 million in cash laying around hiding from income taxes.

The Coffee Pot was clearing over $25,000 a month tax fee. Where do they bake all those donuts and make all that coffee?

Carr's Viking was raided three times and he still do not get the messages.

Someone on the street today told me the machines are no longer in the Twin Oaks and Viking. Can anyone confirm that?

Im sure Carr is about done they will be watching him like hawk, no telling when his business or persoanl phone might be bugged.

You never know when a stranger walks into the Viking and has a beer or two and sees if someone is paying off on the poker machines.

Dont forget the other crooks might plea bargin and be the eyes and ears of the law......this also holds true for the other 15 that were indicted and a few more waiting in the wings to be exposed.

I do not think it would be necessary to wire tap Mr. Carr. The AG and State Police got what they need from Carr's conversations with the Porkster.

Recall Mr. Carr was trying to find more stops for the Porkster which was on phone tap recording.

Mr. Carr might try to build an addition on the ice cream wagon to accommodate two small poker machines.

Malinchak, a frequent opponent of Cherepko and previous mayoral administrations who challenged Cherepko in November's election, has asked Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen Zappala Jr. to investigate whether any city employees were engaged in wrongdoing.

City Solicitor J. Jason Elash said the scrap-handling procedures have been the same for more than 30 years. Money received from junkyards for vehicles and other scrap was being kept in the public works department for public works purchases, Elash said, but the practice has been discontinued.

"There are new procedures in place now, and we are keeping a paper trail of every transaction," Elash said.

...

But Malinchak, unsatisfied, asked the mayor's office to press Zappala on whether his office has concluded its investigation. "I'm not going to call the man and tell him how to do his job," Cherepko replied.

On the city's purchase of tires for police cars, fire trucks and public-works vehicles, Malinchak asked why tire purchases are not being advertised for competitive bids.

Elash said it's a legal "gray area" whether the bidding process applies to tire purchases --- vehicles use a variety of different tire sizes and tires are purchased only when needed, not in bulk, so the cost of tires being purchased at any given time is well below the level where competitive bids are legally necessary ???????

Practice the same for more than 30 years as was the record keeping. But John Jason Elash admitted (similar to when McKeesport city solicitor John J. Elash was DUI about drinking in front of a on scene police officer) that the practice of record keeping had been discontinued! The money received now isn't accounted for! Investigation required on the basis of lack of proper record keeping, right Ray?

Call in the Feds, but the Feds faxed McKeesport mayor Cherepko in December 2012 according to the news papers last week!

HUD money disappeared before, that's why McKeesport lives HUD. But when Pittman was still around last year a contract of accountability for McKeesport was required. Over 1 million dollars was withheld pending proper McKeesport elected officials signature. Pittman complained that it was a firm of blackmail, but was actually accountability for money received.

Bottom line, anyone giving McKeesport money needs to be very careful. The government and anyone else doing business with McKeesport needs to do so with extreme caution. McKeesport is known for vanishing money on several occasions. The government has every right for accountability.

McKeesport connections

The dangers of illegal gambling include running the operations without oversight to protect consumers. The ill-gotten, untaxed proceeds often pay for political influence, said state investigators.

“When you have money of this magnitude, it often leads to other problems,” said Joe Peters, the attorney general's spokesman and former federal mob prosecutor.

Wiretaps recorded Melocchi bragging about his connections with McKeesport's administration and police force.

“I do whatever I want in that town,” Melocchi told an informant in July 2012, according to an affidavit.

Asked if that assertion is true, McKeesport Solicitor Jason Elash said,“Absolutely not.”

Over the past two years, Melocchi and his family donated $4,050 to the campaign of Mayor Mike Cherepko, who denies the money bought influence. Melocchi donated thousands to other Mon Valley Democrats, including state Sen. James Brewster, a former McKeesport mayor, and Reps. Marc Gergely of White Oak, Bill Kortz of Dravosburg and Ted Harhai of Monessen. All said they returned the money or donated it to charity.

Investigators charged three former McKeesport police officers in connection with Melocchi's operation, including Forward police Chief Mark Holtzman.

Ronald “Eke” Prest, a former McKeesport police sergeant, was Melocchi's partner at Back Alley Vending, authorities said.

Prest referred questions to his lawyer, though he could not provide an attorney's name.

“I don't even know,” said Prest, 65, of White Oak.

Among the first places authorities raided in December was Viking Lounge, a McKeesport establishment owned by City Councilman Daniel Carr — who sneaked out the back door as agents filed in the front. He faces charges and did not return calls seeking comment.

Melocchi believed the bust was politically motivated and that it had to do with Carr.

“Dan is a very good friend, and Dan is getting powerful,” Melocchi told an informant.“And with his powerfulness, he created a lot of enemies, and that's part of the problem.”

Did Mayor Cherepko return or donate to charity the $4050 campaign contributions from the Porkster? You always do this for PR and spin control after you are exposed by the Pittsburgh new media.

The precedent was set Mayor Cherepko by you.

You returned $750 to MEMS that was an illegal policitial contribution. What was the MEMS board thinking when they authorized that amount?

You returned $750 to MACM that was an illegal political contribution. What was the MACM thinking when they approved this? Where was former PW Director and MACM Chairman Nick Shermenti on this one.

Yes, you gave Nick over $20,000 to retire and his name was mentioned with respect to an alleged FBI investigation reported on 9/14/13 in the Post Gazette. Again, the PG scooped the DN on this one.

Why did you give Nick a bonus to retire when you knew that PW records were subpoenaed by the Federal Grand Jury and the DA forwarded PW complaints to the FBI?????????

Mayor Mike with your policy of doing what is right and transparency why did you keep the federal subpoena a secret that you and the City were subpoenaed in December 2012 by the FBI and Federal Grand Jury. What are you hiding? By attempting to hide it you just heaped more negativity on our beloved City.

I tend to believe and speculate that our beleaguered mayor is going have a very difficult damage control time with new and shocking information being reported every several days by the Pittsburgh news media.

Abuse of power is a serious crime costing seven years in China!

The Honorable Marc Gergely deposited Porkster's illegal contribution in his personal account and then issued a check to a for-profit charity after being exposed. The seems like a clear case of illicit enrichment that was busted by the AG and State Police.

JINAN, China -- A court sentenced Bo Xilai to life in prison for corruption Sunday, burying the career of one of China's most up-and-coming politicians and lowering the curtain on a scandal that exposed a murder and illicit enrichment among the country's elite.

The former Politburo member and Chongqing city party leader was convicted of bribery, embezzlement and abuse of power Sunday in a case set in motion by his wife's poisoning of a British business associate in late 2011. It also was widely regarded as a political prosecution and a sign that top leaders had turned against the charismatic populist.

The Chinese court sentenced Bo to life in prison on the bribery charges, 15 years for embezzlement and seven years for abuse of power.

Do mean like IV Chairman Carr's gate accountability? And, the archaic and non-existent Palisades financial records, now under Mr. Carr's cognizance?
