Was this poll meant to be funny? The city isn't far from broke now, remove HUD & the Housing Authority welfare to the city & we would be 'Braddock El Grande'. So why do we still need as many politicians today, as we did when there were 55,000 living here ? Clean house & thin the ranks. Drug problem, do you think? Most of the
welfare recipients in town wouldn't have any mad money if dope wasn't involved. And that's probably
40% of the population. A poll isn't needed to
figure this out. Fo sho

W.L.,

FYI

The city has operated at a deficit for 5 of the past 6 years. I've often heard our financial woes blamed on the previous administration. I find it hard to believe that our present problems are Mayor Kucich's fault. We all as politicians like to take credit for anything good that happens. Me? I feel we need to take the blame as well.

The drug and youth violence problem has gotten worse each of the past six years. I'm sick of it. I try to do something about it each and every day. You personally had it hit home with an assault on one of your family members right? I can only do so much as a Councilman and as a citizen. If i am blessed to become Mayor, I will do more. 14 years olds getting killed in the streets by other 14 year olds is the ONE ISSUE that drives me. The solution to the problem is many faceted, I could write a book. Let's just say it involves economic opportunity, better policing strategies, greater community involvement and cutting off the head of the snake. The head of the snake is sometimes hard to find. It is made up of the adults, from in town and out, who have brought this violence, lawlessness and lack of honor or value for human life to Mckeesport.

I have and will make powerful enemies. Hoodlums that profit (greatly) from the drug problem expolited in Mckeesport. I don't care who they are or what job title they hold. If they are contributing and profiting from the violence in our city, and treating our kids like pawns in some sick chess match, THEY ARE GOING DOWN!

I'm sure they and their surrogates will be out on these boards and in the streets bashing me so I don't get elected. Bring it on!

I listen to the people and know what they want done.

New Sheriff in towen?

Just give me the badge.

Peace and thank you for all of your support on these boards. I guess all Republicans aren't so bad after all ;)

Wasn't always so, was always a Dem., registered
Rep. after Clinton's first term. I'm more of an
Independant & will vote for those who will do the job. Party lines mean nothing to me. Look at the McKeesport, Pittsburgh, & the present Congress &
someone tell me how the new socialist Democratic
party is still the working man's party. It for years has been the TAX the working man to support
welfare party. Watch C-Span & the Pa. channel(48)
& see who is really trying to curb taxation.

Many conservative Dems here in PA. Independents are actually the fastest growing sement of voters in America. I think most folks are sick of the two national "machines" calling all the shots. You are right though. The Democratic Party (which is still the better choice of the poor "two" party system) is not our father's Democrats. Gone are the days of hawkish Dems such as FDR, Truman and JFK (at least nationally).

Me, I'm basically a Libertarian in Donkey clothing....

Served his country in battle as a U.S. Marine. Does well by his district. His "pork" reputation is because others are envuious in congress. His length of service guarantees him good funding. One reason to keep Reps in power who can bring home the bacon. Why do you think no Pittsburgher (who could win) runs against Mike Doyle? Even if that person wins, Western Pa loses....

Wikipedia is a flea mart of info. You get what you pay for. The primary premise of the Libertarian Party (of which I am not a member, I just share some common ideals with) is that individual liberty is everything. No prohibitions of any kind UNLESS you infringe on the rights or liberties of another.

There was a prohibition of alcohol....AL Capone

Prohibition on Abortion... girls found dead in their bathrooms

War on "Prohibited" drugs... 14 years olds shooting each other in Mckeesport.

My point is that laws can not make someone lead a "moral" life. You can legislate or judiciate personal morality.

Now for instance, there are good prohibitions. Lead based paint in homes for example. By allowing a substance into people's homes that can unkowingly cause damage to children ( their right to normal development has now been infringed upon by an outside source) makes sense.

Before people start running around and screaming that Sluggo believes in drugs or abortion, NOTHING can be further from the truth. I just believe that education and options are better than abortion bans and that education, parental involvement and federally regulated controlled substances are safer than street drugs.

People are going to do drugs (how many readers drink coffee (caffeinE), take a drink (alcohol) or smoke (nicotine). These are all "drugs" but they are legal. I would argue that someone smoking a joint is in better shape to drive than someone who just had three socially accepted Martini's, wouldn't you?

Opiates were banned in the U.S. to prevent further Chinese immigration. People do real time for growing three plants for personal use in their basement. Does that make sense?

Most politicians do not have the balls to tell people the truth. Me, I tell the truth irregardless of what it does to my vote count. May not get me elected, but at least I am being true to myself and the voters.

The city wouldn't be fixed, sidewalks would all be broken - money vanished. Perhaps there'd be a Kodiak chewing tobacco fund. Sluggo put all the peanuts out, still playing Sluggo? Going to get personal Sluggo? No guns please.

No, I cannot see Sluggo as mayor anymore, I learned about the "candidate."

I opt not to run plug outlets to my house from others as a preference. Paying bills to keep all utilities is very important. As a preference, I'd also advise people not to leave windows open with valuable computers inside turned on. Let's not contend with a thief, if you buy Kodiak instead of paying someone, get paid and make excuses - How then do you become the mayor of Mckeesport by actions? If you borrow cars to do it? If you leave children in care of someone else? What will you say about them?

Perhaps you can lie yourself into thinking you are helping someone, and have a "I take credit for everything" mentality as evidence of personal deficit.

Look, here I am! Who does that?
