These are State Grand Jury indictments, not county.

AG Kane should announce the indictments in the bright lights.

Pennsylvania State Police have charged at least 16 people, including three former McKeesport police officers, in connection with a video gambling ring in the Monongahela Valley.

The defendants are being arraigned this morning.

They all face a variety of charges involving gambling.

The arrests were made by state police's Bureau of Criminal Investigation and follow a months-long investigation that involved wiretaps and a grand jury.

Names to be released very very soon

Ex-McKeesport officer Holtzman is new Forward police chief !!!!

Forward Township has something it hasn't in more than three years: a police chief.

On Monday, supervisors unanimously hired retired McKeesport police Deputy Chief Mark Holtzman to head the department.

Board of supervisors chairman Tom DeRosa said Holtzman was hired on Supervisor Ron Skrinjorich's recommendation. DeRosa said no other applicants were considered for the job.

DeRosa said Holtzman's appointment to the non-union position still has to be approved by the state Labor Relations Board. The new chief's wage remained unsettled as of Tuesday but DeRosa said it likely will be in the neighborhood of $65,000-$75,000.

“I'm coming out of retirement from one of the greatest police departments of all time,” said Holtzman, who started his career in McKeesport in 1991 and retired in February 2011 after serving 11 years as deputy chief.“I'm looking forward to working with the officers out there.”

Holtzman, who is in the final year of his second term on the McKeesport Area school board, is married and has children.

We can expect this from Mob Valley mobsters but for public servants, it's really disgusting. All of Mark Holtzman family should be sterilized. End the corruption once and for all.

I believe that you are being extremely harsh and unfair to the family. I like Mark and know he is accused of wrong doings. He, like others, is entitled to his day in court.

You should consider the roots of the problems: Who in political power and what organizations permitted these persons, vendors, and former employees to disappoint the voters and taxpayers?

My answers are a few highly elected officials, MDC, Teamsters Unions, nepotism, and favorite vendors and their disrespect for the rule of law. They protected these culprits and let them progress up the promotion ladder in return for their political support and votes. They seemed to create a political monster.

They formed a task force to go after folks who are putting Visio poker machines in bars? Really, and to think every time you pick up the paper or turn on the news, some has been shot or murdered in the Mon Valley. Priorities obviously are not in order, and to think that the drugs and guns take a back seat to gambling. Pa, you need to get it right!

It would be better to get the drugs and guns off the streets.
if these dummys want to blow their entire pay check in a machine go for it...why arent they mentioned in the corruption? They know it's illegal and the payoff they get never gets reported as income? This a one way street ?

This only goes to prove why this shithole is the crime capital of western Pa. If our public officials are involved in Crime - what makes you think they are not paid off or controlled by the BIG money of illegal DRUGS ?? They OK gambling , nepotism , cronyism & shake-downs - who can trust them on the big money drug pay-offs to support the campaigns & votes ? Why are you protecting them unless your entire existence relies on your kissing ass ?

Now that Topix has exhausted all opinions, observations, facts, and speculations on the Operation Pork Chop we must move on.

Is a Phase Two presentment and ensuing group of indictments forthcoming and when?

What distinguished and notorious individuals may the grace Operation Pork Chop hall of shame monument?

My prediction is that the second round of indictments are projected to be served before the end of this month. Expect more pictures on the front page of all three daily news papers. The TVs staffs of all three local TV station will be busy.

This is the time for some to circle the wagons and prepare a crisis management plan.

Senator Brewster already had a few sessions in his 5th Avenue penthouse with Marc G and Cherepko present.

As more and more indictments come down, the competition becomes much more intense to seek some sort of immunity. I look for Porky to spill his guts with the idea that he gets back his million bucks and no jail time.

The others will have to spill their guts just to be considered for some sort of immunity. Ralph Imbrogno spilled his guts and still got time in jail plus the $90,000 fine.
