Did the School Board do the right thing hiring Tedesco?

I wonder how the new incoming board members would vote on throwing our tax dollars away to someone who bid the job higher than someone (also a district resident) who is more qualified to handle the job?

Everyone keeps bringing up the fact that there were lower bids. Lower price doesn't equal good work. If he was best for the job, then so be it.

========== First off, who are they to judge what constitutes good work ? What experience or backround allows them to choose, other than Tedesco is part of that 'click'? His track record at Cornell should have eliminated him immediately. Supposedly we aren't talking a few thousand bucks, but hundreds of thousands. He surely ain't that good. Another immediate rejection should have been made the second he asked for the 'front' money. It stinks all the way through. |

The slick six are watching your tax dollars go right into their pockets with hires like this. Vote Spando on tuesday.

I like Tedesco, he pays everybody off. He will even give the mayor a slice of this cash cow!

Remember this when you vote tomorrow. Washowich voted for the money up front. Washowich, Holtzman, Maglicco, and Maksin are all endorsed by the McKeesport Democratic Committee. Mr. Tedesco also did work for the city aka Mayor Brewster. Maglicco on the Mck Dem Endorsement card I received in the mail was a real disappointment. Thought he was a stand up guy capable of thinking for himself. Guess I was wrong. He's just like all the rest. Donato and Spando were our only hope. Hopefully Spando will win tomorrow and Donato will be back in two years. If not, say goodb-bye to the lowest school taxes in the county and hello to higher taxes. Wonder how many more friends of the mayor will be hired by MASD with payment up front before any work is done.

Smith 4 people = to small Tedesco 1 person = Perfect fit. Could someone please explain this one to me. Vote Spando she likes what is fair and honest.

Put your name on a ballot, or was it already there in the spring? |

I thought I smelled bad, but this hiring takes the cake.

Good point Jen, but let me ask you this, How many projects of this magnitude has Tedesco taken care of and completed in school setting, and if he wasn't sure he would get the work why would he ask for $500,000 plus more than another company? If his company was big enough to handle this job why did he ask for $230,000 up front? My guess is he had envelopes to stuff. |
||||
|
What I'd like to know is what happens if he doesn't finish the job or doesn't do a good job? Does he have to pay back the close to 1/4 million dollar up front payment he's going to receive. Close to $250,000 up front before a day's work is done. Is the Tedesco running for council related to him? How about the fireman?

Why does the district need a project manager when we haven't started the project? |
||||
Simple -- it worked with Mon Valley Construction Management in 1996. Why not "play it again Sam?" Remember the President of PPM was the Chair of the Building & Grounds and steered the contract to the high bidder MVCM in 1996. To this day the MASD refused to give director Barb an itemized bill for MVCM. MASD Soliciter George and President of MVCM -- provide this to Barb before her term expires? You have had enough time to prepare it. Send a copy to PPM -- they can use it. It worked in 1996/1998. |

City diversity is needed on the MASD SB. The public should elect the City fire chief, City lawyer, and City administrator to the MASD SD. This would round out the SB of three City police officers, one City recreation director, and one City public works director.
The SB should be an all City team. Sorry WO, but we can do it and we are only three away from unanimous control. I love the HRC that permits this. We thank those who crafted it and the judge that confirmed it. There is no risk of conflicts of interest. |

I hear the next board meeting should be interesting with all the tax paying people and news media that will be in attendance looking for answers.Should be a fun night! |
||||
I will pray many times that your prediction is more than accurate. My prediction is that Chair Joe will not physically be at the meeting. He will hide behind a phone hook up. One thing that Chair Joe does not cherish is an elevated thermal environment. Chair Joe appears to be the ring leader of the Slick Six. Stay tuned to see if the Slick Six are doomed or dented. |
||||
|
If Chairman Joe does not show up it just proves our point that what this board is doing is completely wrong. They or their people have not responded to any of the claims made recently that what they have done is a crime and is punishable. Maybe they just think by staying quiet caring tax payers will just forget about it and will go away. I hope they all have a nice Christmas (or should I say Holiday Season ,as not to offend anyone) at the tax payers expense. All I ask for is one good reason that we are paying someone almost a million dollars more to do a project than someone who is just as if not more so qualified to do. It is really a simple question, so other than the obvious fact that someone is on the take what is the answer to this $700,000 Question.

PP: Excellent speculation on the kickback angle. But one cannot do anything but speculate until something is captured on tape or indisputable evidence falls out of the sky. The Slick Six are very smart and audacious. After all they most likely engineered the clever scheme. As Chair Joe said -- Smith is too small with 4 employees but PPM is large enough with 1 employee. The only break for the taxpayers will be if the authorities investigate and put heat on one of Slick Six. One of the SS may turn on their comrades to save their butt. This means that all the SS comrades have to be nervous and cautious all the time. Will the fruits of power and victory be distributed equally? Can they trust one another to honor their “code of silence?” The house of cards will then tumble. Unfortunately, none of this is likely to happen. We got to get used to it and accept that the SS screwed us with our "eyes wide shut." They are laughing at us and know they will get away with it because Mon Valley Construction Management did. I have to congratulate the SS on their slime like slickness and success. Now the SS will move on to “facilitate”$50 million of construction and investment banker opportunities. The PPM high ball contract is just the tip of the moneyberg. You might as well accept the SS despicable victory and unconditionally surrender. Without any evidence of wrong doing – the SS wins. They are smart enough to keep it that way. Give the SS credit for out-smarting the voters who elected them. |
