The MPD, DA, citizen, and mayor are doing their best to address the problems. We are not alone. Chicago is a combat zone every day.

If you have any positive suggestions call the MPD or mayor. We need your help and interest as you posted.

I would hardly lump The Port in with Chicago.. it is much worse. Plus Chicago is so much bigger, and the Port PEr Capita crime rates and Murder rates are double that of the City of Chicago.

Yes, may be the shootee must instantaneously return fire and become the shooter. In other words, shoot back and do not miss. The will level the combat zone field as fast as a traveling bullet.
We need more laws

No shootings, but I hear there are rogue bands of ATV riders causing all sorts of problems city wide!

Thanks GOD our council stepped in and enacted a law!

Because we all know that LAWS stop crime! And this new law will stop these evil 11-16 year olds in their tracks! Just like shootings are a thing of the past!

Wait....what's that? There is a law against murder and shootings?

The HELL you say!?!?!?!

But there were several notable shootings this year in McKeesport......the law didnt stop those??

Are you SERIOUS!?!?

Damn.

Well........ok......

....I got nothing.....

You are right..you got nothing. Laws do not Stop crime, only people can do that. Laws are in place to deterr crime with negative reinforcement as a consequence of committing a crime. They are in place to protect society as a whole from the scum bags that live places like Crawford, Harrison, Jenny Lind, Packer, Evans, Beacon, Etc.. Laws allow the Po-PO to evercise their authority and remove the scum bags from society. Now.. if we could get the Governor to start executing these said scum bags waiting on eath Row, we could all stop paying for them and make room for more.

You made the OP's point for him. RESULT OF YOUR POINT- a city wide ATV and dirt bike ban was not needed as there are already laws on the books regarding illegal riding and trespassing on private property any more than we need more laws to tell us that something like murder is wrong.

ENFORCEMENT OF THE LAW is what needs to be done, not just new, over-reaching laws.

Advocates claim stricter gun law will fix the woes.....but it will just make a less-protected population. Criminals will always have guns.

In the case of the ATV ban, it wasn't about the law...it was about a pissed off neighbor looking to get her way. Existing law , if enforced, would stop illegal trespassing on private property and illegal riding on city streets. And it would have allowed property owners the right to continue enjoying their land as seen fit.

I agree, by the way -- execute criminals. Less room and board we have to pay plus it is a definite deterrent.

One PO neighbor, how about the other 190 or so that signed the petition. Are you saying they had no dog in this noise abatement race?

Yes, enforce the noise nuisance ordinance. Many bars and watering holes are designated nuisance bars because of the noise and other unacceptable behaviors.

Can your friend the propery owner enjoy his property without violating the noise ordinance?

I am saying that the lawyer lady collected those signatures under the false pretense of "ATVs are all over McKeesport causing all sorts of safety concerns" when in reality she was only concerned about one family's property..... I can say this, she said it to my FACE.

All we have now is ONE MORE law. IF cops cannot enforce existing noise ordinances and safety laws, what good is one more law going to do?

Of course, the cops are also on the front lines and know that any community is a balance of give and take -- one's own actions and tolerance of others' actions....

Lawyer lady has no concept of what "community" is about.

As was said before, she didn't like someone else using "her" backyard as they pleased. Rather than work it out with the neighbor she went straight to legal means.

Yeah, GREAT neighbor.

Hopefully you do not live next door to someone like THAT.....every move you make is under that person's scrutiny, and they can at any time bring trouble to your world.

It is a shame that someone of advanced age as the lawyer lady has not developed the social understanding and tolerance that usually comes with that.

You can name call and say its for the good of this or that, but in the end, all this ordinance did was further divide a city that should be coming together to work out its problems.

But she doesnt care about that. As long as she can sit on her deck and enjoy someone else's property the way she sees fit, she is content.

Congrats lawyer lady -- you are a shining example of what is wrong with our society these days. LACK OF TOLERANCE AND UNDERSTANDING.

The Port deserves no tolerance. The malcontents all over the Port need to be told what to do, and forced to do it. That is the only way they can survive as a society. Throughout History.. many times it has taken Dictorial rule and removal of certain liberties to pull a society through the darkest times, sometimes kicking and screaming. The Fence needs to be put up and the Port removed from the United States. I am sure the state would give the land grant to create Port Town, put up the fence.. make them get passports to move through the gates, and allow a strong leadership to rise to a level that forces the criminals of the Port to conform or Die.

I saw a "low rider" atv the other day near Crawford Village, with gold spinners and a crown air freshener in the back. It had a case of "sunny-d's" strapped near the back seat too.Must have belonged to some piece of garbage on public assistance.

There is no problem with it. It pops up every week or so. Every case is drug related in some manner.

The TV stations are going to open an operations center in the port (i.e., this will be new business 152 according to the senator fuzzy math) to reduce response time. UPMC should be thinking about opening a few field hospitals in the Port and other well known combat zones.

How is the city progressing with the county jail annex in the Port?

There should be a law that all drug transactions should be "cash, carry and then consume." This would eliminate the need for a roving collection enforcement squad.
