I was woke up out of my slumber this morning at 5am by some jagoff a couple doors down using a snow blower.
I am interested in getting council to enact an ordinance against this sort of activity because I am ill and need my sleep. I know your were a major influence on getting the council to see your way and take care of a major nuisance and health threat (the ATV ordinance) and hoping you can take up the cause for yet another threat to Haler Heights peace and quiet. I saw many posts about you here on Topix, most of them not so nice.
It is SOOOO noisy! It took him a good 20 minutes to get done and finally it was over. But I was already awake by then.
Not mention the fumes and stink coming from that 2 cycle motor. Talk about air pollution!
Why can't this idiot use a shovel like everyone else?
Please help!

Only the people that know the cops are allowed to ride their ATVs in Glassport. Ask the officer who works in the a.m.

I'm not impressed.

Why aren't those He-Man hard-cores out there cruising around that precious trail right now? Can't handle 4-6 inches of snow?

Errrrr....because the city made it illegal and maybe the property owner is trying not to be a douchebag like some others in the 'hood have been?

My sarcasm didn't come across so well in print. I was referring to the screaming that went on here about fighting it to the death. And why not a f--- you gesture by running those things all over on a day like today?

But I didn't think the ordinance prevented owners from using it for yardwork.

And, it was not even a recreation ATV but was able to plow snow? And once the snow was removed the AVT noise stopped and it was retired until the next snow fall.

Because no one is looking to say "f you" to anyone.

The responsible ATV and dirt bike owners of the area just want others to be decent neighbors too rather than run to council and make a mountain our of a molehill.

Being good neighbors takes TWO sides, not just one.

You appear to be poking fun at the "fight to the death", but wait till some fussbudget goes to council complaining about something you do on YOUR property and see how ya feel.

Sooooooo......as long as it is for the convenience of ONE person, it is OK to wake up neighbors at 5am?

A snow blower is not a necessity. I hand shovel MY snow....have for years.

A disturbance is a disturbance, isnt it?

Was Young and his kids riding ATVs at 5am?

McKeesport is a CITY, like it or not, an urban area. You can't:
1) start that lawnmower before 8:00 a.m.
2) work on your car, boat, adult toy in your front yard
3) have a non-functioning, unlicensed vehicle in your driveway

If the city doesn't see it, your neighbors will bring it to their attention.

When you live in a place where houses are close to each other, you can expect trouble from the neighbors at any time when:
1) you're music volume is at 11 and windows are rattling a block away
2) your domestic disturbances are played out on the porch or yard
3) nos. 1 and 2 start out as frequent parties you like to hold every weekend
4) your yard isn't maintained and you're not shoveling the front walk

I left out drug dealing because the city is too busy enforcing the ones I mentioned.

All of these things are covered directly or indirectly by ordinances. Every town has them. You should know that. Those are the rules you agree to obey, because that's how things work.

If you don't agree, you can tweak an ordinance or you can move where these things don't break the law.

I knew the rules when I bought my house. My neighbors don't complain about me because I'm the one who's reminding them about the ones I mentioned. I'd like to do something about the drug dealing, but it's falling on deaf ears. Do you think they know somebody at city hall?

Haler Heights is the 12th Ward of McKeesport. It is not a principality unto itself, despite what some residents may think. An ordinance passed by the city applies to the entire city. I haven't seen my ATV and dirt bike kids yet, but it's still cold outside. But I better not, and neither should you. Because there's an ordinance now. And it damn-well better be enforced in the entire city.

You got to give Chief BJ a fair chance on enforcement. The Chief takes violations of any ordinance seriously, very seriously.

Under normal conditions, I would expect the mayor who neglected to sign the ATV Ban ordinance to order the chief to ignore the ordinance. But, the many career ending issues and presence of the FBI in Pittsburgh matter may wake up our mayor up. He should note that when a Pgh employee was ordered to do something wrong, that the authorities were informed of such.

I think all will be well and the Chief will admonish violators in a very professional and fair manner. Just do not jump to erroneous conclusions on this one.

Moreover, with all the intrigue and investigative slot machine activities and other rumored investigations, I believe that many at city hall are on the toes. Many may be under the magnifying glass of justice.

THANK GOD we have busy bodies like you to "protect" us! LOL

Gee, you must be a real hoot at parties (not).

People like you just like to crap all over people. You think your own butt don't stink.

From the outside your house probably looks normal---and inside its either a meth lab, weed farm or porn den. Maybe you are a closet nympho, or maybe you have 100 cats. Or you are just a lonely old bastard who no one visits anymore, and all your friends are dying off, so you occupy your time making life miserable for those who support your social security checks.

WTF cares about someone working on a car in their front yard or if someone has a vehicle in their driveway that isn't registered provided it isn't causing a safety problem?

Ever think that maybe everyone is not a retired lawyer who can afford to have others work on their BMW? It would be a cold day in hell that you would tell me not to work on my vehicle on my private property.

You want to live somewhere where there are strict covenants and a list of no-nos so you can "preserve" the neighborhood, you are free to move to one of those gated communities where everyone is a stick in the mud and royal inflamed blood vessel of the rectum.

McKeesport neighborhoods are a working person's neighborhoods. GET OVER IT.

As far as the loud music, front yard drama, etc......you must live in a bubble cause that stuff is EVERYWHERE. Anywhere you have a conglomeration of people you have this stuff. And that is why they have laws and ordinances on the books....to stop the worst offenders.....not nit pick every single blessed infraction.

If they arrested everyone for every rule on the books, there would be no taxpayers left but you and then you would be bitching about high taxes. In fact, there is likely a law on the books somewhere that might even get YOU busted.

Ordinances are meant to serve as a framework of rules to keep the peace, true. However, there are exceptions to everything and rules are regularly bent so as to not be a burden to people provided no one is getting hurt.

Too bad there isn't an ordinance forbidding busy bodies, because your type cause more trouble than they solve. Maybe your pal the lawyer lady can help us get an ordinance passed like THAT?

Your parents must have never told you that people hate busy bodies.
