HARRISBURG -- A Commonwealth Court judge today rejected an effort, backed by the state Republican Party, to remove a GOP challenger to Gov. Tom Corbett from the primary ballot.

Lawrence Tabas, general counsel for the state GOP, said the petitioners will appeal to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. The primary election is May 20.

"It will be done extremely promptly," he said.

Bob Guzzardi, a businessman from Montgomery County, described himself in a recent interview as a limited-government alternative to the first-term Republican governor.

"This is the taxpayer versus big government, that's what this is about, and Tom Corbett and the state committee and the Republican General Assembly are big-government Republicans," he said.

He said he plans to spend little money -- perhaps $10,000 -- on a campaign, relying instead on dissatisfaction among proponents of limited government.

Houses rented has increased. Population decreased since.

Investigators from the Allegheny County District Attorney's office were at Wilkinsburg Middle School this morning to retrieve financial records from a federally funded after-school program that saw its former director accused of stealing computer equipment.

As they left the school at mid-morning, the investigators declined to say why they were there. One was holding a folder with papers inside.

District attorney spokesman Mike Manko said the investigator's visit was a follow-up to the "IT misappropriation in investigation." He said investigators are performing a forensic financial investigation of the grant process as part of the case !!!!!!!!!!

Wilkinsburg substitute Superintendent Donna Micheaux, through a spokeswoman, said: "The district has no comment other than that this is part of an ongoing investigation into the 21st Century after-school program." Ms Micheaux replaced Lee McFerren who was fired by the school board last month.

Why is the DA involved when it is federal dollars? The FBI should also be involved in this investigation at least surreptitiously IMO.

A summary disorderly conduct charge against a South Fayette sophomore who claims he was bullied by fellow students will be withdrawn by prosecutors at a hearing in Common Pleas Court on April 29.

Christian Aaron True Stanfield, 15, used his iPad mini to record one incident of what he considered to be an ongoing string of bullying events on Feb. 11, in his math resource class.

When his mother, Shea Love, contacted school administrators about what she heard on the recording the next morning, instead of taking action against the alleged bullies, Ms. Love said, school officials called the police to report her son, who has special needs, for what they considered to be a wiretap violation. They also forced him to delete the recording.

I was waiting for the first person to bring this up. What, tell me what, could the mayor have done to prevent this? Tell me. Did he do this murder and the others?

Is this really the mayor's fault? A year or so ago when some drug dealer got whacked in bed on Versailles Ave, some idiot was on being interviewed by a reporter and she said "where was the mayor when this happened?"... Do you know where he was? Probably home in bed. Do you know where he was when this latest one happened? Likely the same place. I doubt very much he was golfing at 1:30 in the morning. AND- if he was away on a golf trip, who cares? Do you get vacation?

This town is FULL of illiterate people. FULL of conspiracy theorists, FULL of people who like to lay blame on others, and FULL of morons who do not raise their children the proper way.

This latest thing,,What? a 19 yr old whacks a 20 yr old? "Jimmy B"- why weren't these two home in their beds, waiting for the alarm to wake them at 5AM for work? Do you run the streets at 1:30AM? Why aren't you asking that question? Why are you worried about the mayor? Ask the real questions, the ones that matter.

I agree and do recall seeing that interview. Everybody wants to place the blame on the authorities and the mayor but when they start cracking down they are same people in outcry of violation of civil rights, racism, etc. Lack of employment among many others is a major factor in the violence/criminal activity in this area but who in their right mind would invest in a area like this? You can't even operate a small corner store because it is almost a gurantee you will be robbed and in at least one case I recall murdered. The place is doomed if you ask me..

That robbery happened on Jenny Lind. I knew his boys. A very nice man who was robbed and gunned down by crackheads. Place the blame on the parents and the lack of good parenting. These kids see all this drug activity and thuggery and thinks it's SO COOL! The media glamorizes this behavior and these kids want to emulate what they see. No future goals and the parents don't help. Look at some of these Facebook posts with these idiots throwing signs, showing weed and guns with young children around. They don't care so why should we? These parents place the blame on other people but never taught there kids what's right and wrong. Of course there are always bad seeds but you don't see murders after midnight in other, more affluent communities. And please don't talk about these kids OD'n because it happens a lot in McKeesport as well. I can go on for days and shoot down anyone who's on the opposite side of my honest and pretty much true opinions.

You hit the nail on the head. I blame the parents too - or the parent nowadays. Everyone likes to pass the buck and blame someone else. Nowadays with all of the welfare trash in this city, you have some 32 yr old woman with 8 kids to 8 different guys, and here she is a grandma already. Pigs like this expect the government to take care of them and their children.

They need to look in the mirror. These pigs say there is nothing for the kids to do, no swimming pools, no money, etc.... The best things are still free. It's still free to take a walk on the bike trail or wherever, play wiffle ball in a park, your back yard, etc... I was the youngest in my family, I never robbed a store, never did an arson, no purse snatching, etc.... Morons need to stop with the excuses.

You want to sell dope and live a dishonest life? Adios. I really don't care what happens to you. Things happen to good people too, but if you are a thug, you can expect bad stuff to happen. It catches up with you.
