I think that AJ Tedesco and Segina will get the endorsement of the MDC. JB thinks a lot of them and likes to keep the less friendly closer than his unwavering friends.

The mayor may not support JBs daughter for fear she will revert to her maiden surname and us the initial of her given name. This spells trouble for the former school teacher, but on the other hand there will be a job opportunity at MASD if she wins.

Walker may have a little difficulty winning the MDC endorsement. She is too smart and independent for them.

This is the first election I will vote for all incumbents. Segina, Tedesco, and Walker-Montgomery for council and Malinchak for controller. They are not machine controlled and have done fine jobs.

I agree with your assessment. They all resist and ignore the mayor's and solicitor's bully and intimidation tactics.

The late Emergency Management Coodinator did not endear himself to all. But he was star in preparing Campaign Finance Reports for the senator and mayor. The party loved him and JB rewarded him with a nice salary for a easy job. He was good at working the expense account until the Beatle caught up with him.

Yet another anonymous slam against our mayor. There is always someone who wants to blame everything on the mayor. Same thing with Brewster and the mayor before him.

The council is where the changes happen.

But not in McKeesport.

I swear, our council gets together just so they can one-up each other.

All you have to do is go to ONE council meeting or read the minutes.

It is plain to see that Malinchak just likes to be the guy who has some sort of insight. He likes to hear himself argue and he does it with great aplomb. He just has to get his view in.

Segina? Bloated with power and too worried about Robert's rules and proper procedure to see what the issues really are and get any real work done. The February meeting is a perfect example. Too worried about making sure everyone knows he met a councilman at the Viking on an issue to worry about hearing what the public is actually saying or to look at an issue from all sides.

Tedesco? Too busy worrying about keeping his office to look at the issues with any sort of objectivity.

"bully tactics" from the mayor? He does seem to like to chime in on things a lot. Well, that is his JOB. He could sit back and let council go unchecked like previous mayors but he is an active mayor. Instead he seems to take a real interest in how things go down and speaks out when he has an opinion. He makes his voice heard and uses the bully pulpit of the office to do so. Thank god he does. He has made a couple of decisions that some do not fully understand. Lucky for those people he did, they will still be able to sit and criticize him and the city years from now versus living in a bankrupt city.

Councils job is SUPPOSED to be to do what the public wants done.

So far all I see are special interests and favors and such making the decisions from this city council.

It has been said that McCall is a big mouth and starts feuds. Well, it seems that anyone who differs in opinion from Segina is "starting a feud". Yeah, McCall does seem to egg on Segina. But Segina eggs McCall on just as much.

And our fair councilwoman's insistence that "something has to be done tonight" on the ATV ordinance, evem after it was brought to her attention that it encompasses many many issues and not just one....pushing council to pass an ordinance without any real investigation or middle ground under the guise of "both sides have been through enough". She would rather make something LAW and then go back and try and CHANGE IT LATER , when we all know that it is always harder to change an existing law than it is to make sure the law is correct to begin with. But I suppsoe she has her hands full dealing with the issues of the welfare recipients and how well THEY are being served...who cares about what your TAX base wants. As an aside....her insistence to grab the mic and damn near have it in her mouth.....can some please tell her how dumb that looks and sounds?

My god, its like watching a train wreck, looking at this council.

Such childish antics from almost everyone on the council.

Most of our council is out of touch with the people they serve.

Serving on boards does not a good councilman (or woman) make.

NOT ONCE has any council member ever come to MY door and asked me what is on MY mind.

Where are the public meetings where citizens can discuss topics before the council makes things law?

We do not have that.

They rely on the few loudmouths who come to council to get their way to decide what the issues are.

Its sad really.

Based on post #34 it seems like there are some potential grounds for Mayor Cherepko and the City Solicitor to explore ways to recall, remove, or impeach Malinchak, Segina, Tedesco, and Walker-Montgomery.

That is their duty for good government and transparency. Just do what and right and do it swiftly. The burden of action is on the mayor and solicitor to exhibit his leadership and wisdom.

I agree and hope that this is considered by the powerful majority. Mayor Cherepko has four votes in his pocket. There is no excuse for not moving forward with the scheme to restore RESPECT an to BRING THE CITY BACK.

The future of the city is at stake and the ball is in the mayor's and solicitor's court. Call a special meeting and JUST DO IT NOW, IF LEGAL!

It is NOT up to the mayor OR the solicitor.

It is up to the voting public to get off their arses next election and vote in people who will actually THINK before forcing votes through just to save time and hassle on their end because "they have lives too" as Segina said at the last meeting......

What!?!?

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE TIME TO DEVOTE YOUR ALL TO A JOB, TO DO WHAT HAS TO BE DONE, TO THINK THINGS THROUGH THOROUGHLY..... DO NOT TAKE UP THAT JOB TO BEGIN WITH!!!!!!!

Not sure if Segina said that...I know the mayor said/alluded to that...it came up when they were discussing board membership......something like "its hard to get good people on boards, and they have lives too"......

It wasnt a negative comment at all.

But I for one got his message. It takes a lot of time to be a good councilman and or board member.

I do seem to recall Segina saying something along the lines that "people have lives" when he was discussing (arguing) about a private meeting with the Viking owner. But do not quote me. The minutes, I am sure, will have all that.....right?

That seems to be common sense.

Honesty ? Transparency ? Respect ? OK fine . Can we start with the door watchers & whistling peepers from the infamous Cornell School Sex Scandal ? Then onto the International Village gate receipts money grab every year . Until this is cleared up - why trust anybody. This stuff should never be forgotten . Now they want to preach to us . Amusing.
