my brother was an english school teacher at south allegheny for over 39 years he had his masters for 35 of those years, he retired last year with a nice pension of 70K a year, plus he had about 340K in his 401K plus cd's and ira's and other investments.
he pays almost nothing for his healthcare
he will be eligible for his SS.. he will turn 66 next january. he told me he'll get about 2,800 a month from them. he just wants to thank the tax payers for contributing to his pension and healthcare all these years
he smiles alot these days and not a worry at all
he plans to tour italy and greece next year with his wife.
he cares about unions and backs them 100%....even while on strike the teachers get paid,,,thats what i call a union !!
this is way the teachers pensions are in trouble while the teachers are on strike the union pays their wages......38 states DO NOT allow their teachers to strike and 35% of public school teachers that teach in this country do not belong to a union.. some even discourage it, they dont want it

Unions are the reason buinesses outsource to other countries. Unions re not necessary with labor laws to protect workers. Unions drive up the cost of products. You pay more taxes because of teachers.

I agree and the educational workers at all educational institutions are grossly over paid and over pensioned.

Do you really live in Murrysville ? Westmoreland Co., I believe . So tell us , is it the corrupt, tax & spend democrats or the unions that have failed to manage that has now created a Section 8 paradise in the ENTIRE VALLEY from Pittsburgh to Clairton ? A den of thieves that hires only friends & family supported by Section 8 grant money ? You are correct though , they are all in bed together to feed their greed at the working man's expense .

Section 8 is a separate problem than PAT transit union greed. Two very important problems in the area. You can control section 8. Someone also came up with another issue being the bleeding heart socialist mentality. More republicans are needed.

Unions are ruining public education: Every few years, it's the same old story. The teachers’ unions claim that public education in this country is dramatically underfunded and if they just had more money, they could turn it around. Taxpayer money then pours into our schools like a waterfall and....there's no improvement. A few years later, when people have forgotten the last spending spree on education, the process is repeated.

However, the real problem with our education system in this country is the teachers’ unions. They do everything possible to prevent schools not only from firing lousy teachers, but also from rewarding talented teachers. Merit pay? The unions hate it. Private schools? Even though everyone knows they deliver a better education than our public schools, unions fight to keep as many kids as possible locked in failing public schools. In Wisconsin, we've had whole schools shutting down so that lazy teachers can waste their time protesting on the taxpayers’ dime. Want to improve education in this country? Then you've got to take on the teachers’ unions that get outrageous pensions paid by the tax payers

Glassport needs busses to get all their drunks home safe....and all the homies who don't take.care of.their children need a way to get to the store to buy x box games , frankly since I work in glassport but don't live there, and when I didn't have a car ..because a homie stole it...I took a bus to the edge of glasspprt AMD had to walk through ... I wasn't afraid of being robbed. At that time of day I think the bars were already closed..except Carol's...so most of.them are.sleeping off their alcohol ...and the homies don't get out of bed till noon anyway...anybody remember the andy Griffith show?

PAT killed Century 3 mall. It brought low lifes into the mall and it stopped being nice, so people left. If you're on welfare, why do you need to go to the mall? Work Link? I have new found respect for Congress for shutting it down. It was nothing but a jitney service in Clairton. It would also pick dope dealers up from Century 3 Townhomes and dropped them off on Miller Ave and wait for them to do their deals. If 1 person ever used WorkLink to get to work I would be surprised.

The black section 8 piss and moan so PAT gives them their taxpayer jitney from one hood to the next. This service needs to just go from McKeesport Glassport Lincoln liberty and port vue back to McKeesport. It should never go to Clairton period. Those black whine and get everything thy want. I'm sick of this nonsense. Go back to Africa and get your freebies. I didn't bring your kind here, don't want your kind here, don't want to listen to your kind whine about entitlements. Your kind sold your kind. So go to africa for your dam entitlements.

just read article in paper,8-23 trib.crying like hell about how bad the bridges are.but the underlying reason to raise our gasoline tax, regerstration fees, etc. etc. is to get a dedicated source of funding for mass transit.once again your lying s,o,b.politicians are going to dig deeper into your pay check, savings, and where ever they can rape you of your dollars.

It helps, but too little too late as all the larger companies are cutting back employees. That includes Heinz company in Pittsburgh. No jobs, no need of a ride to a job that isn't available!

All the houses are decreasing in value in McKeesport. Including the Pill Hill ones. Most aren't worth 5-10,000 dollars in spite of the over priced evaluations in McKeesport. Shootings are common in McKeesport.

The MASD will be committing over $60 million for two and half new schools. Our students will become top performers.

The Tigers will go to the WPIAL play offs and shootings will drop to zero.

The feel good theme will kick in and all will be well.
I expect my Jenny Lind home to triple in value.
