Why is this a joke, many kids on my sons 9/10 year old team are from white oak and they are very pleased with the switch from WO to Mybo. Some have switched and gone to WO as well, so I guess it is preference of the parents. All of these organizations should be applauded for their work with the kids in our communities!

Isn't that what it should be about, the kids? I have heard different things about mybo, most of them good, and it seems like the people who run it give our children more opportunities than the other organizations. I am not saying that makes them better, because like you I think any group that volunteers their time so our kids can be a part of something positive is a good thing!

No, at MYBO, we do not want certain kids. Our upper management is from White Oak, and the baseball organization is run seperate from The Boys and Girls Club. Our coaches are from White Oak, and do not actively reach out to the kids from the Club.

No, the kids that play in MYBO are not from the hood. Just like the kids who play Dek are not from the Port. Just like the kids who will remain members, they will no longer be from the hood. Now, the ghetto populace are the ones there for the afterschool programs, but not the sports. You still get the trash parents, but that is because you an't take the hood out of them.

If they do not actively reach out to the kids at the club then why do they hold their sign ups there and host clinics their. You really need to stop talking out of your a$$ because your breath is starting to stink!

Your reply is true and funny. My son plays basketball at the club on Saturdays and there was someone from Mybo doing sign ups every saturday for about 6 or 7 weeks. The clinics were a great learning expierience for the kids and my son really enjoyed playing baseball this year. Thanks to all the folks who put in the time and effort to make mybo a great organization. Next year I will be signing up my littlest one for tee ball as well.

Sorry not true. My kids are very involved at woaa. I love it, but that place can be embarassing. It needs a very good cleaning or just blow it up and start again. Can you really compare the fields? The football team plays on a baseball field with minimal seating. Other teams including McKeesport play at a stadium. The volunteers are great. I give my time too. But I have witness fights between the baseball coaches/parents where the board members have called special meetings. I have an idea. Instead of bashing different organizations, continue to inspire the youth of both communities.

I usually don't bother with this website because people like you can just spread lies about things that you really don't know anything about and there are naive people that actually believe it. I just wanted to say though that I have 2 sons that play for MYBO and both coaches live in McKeesport, for the younger team 4 out of 5 coaches on the team live in McKeesport and for the older team all of his coaches live in McKeesport. I have a friend who's husband coaches and they live in McKeesport and my nephew plays and all of his coaches live in McKeesport. Every year I go to the Boys and Girls Club for sign-ups and clinics so how aren't they reaching out to the kids in the club? You are some liar who is trying desperately to make MYBO look bad but anyone who know anything about it knows that a vast majority of the coaches live in McKeesport. I'm not saying that there aren't coaches that live in White Oak, I'm sure there are, but some definitely isn't all.

I think this person who keeps posting this nonsense is missing the point of the boys and girls club, so here is their Mission Statement copied directly from their website... The Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for youth, with particular emphasis on members who live in urban communities of highly diverse cultures. The primary mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania is to promote health, social, educational, vocational and character development for boys and girls ages 6 through 18, by self-esteem, values, and skills. First of all, people from White Oak do NOT consider themselves from an URBAN community clearly because there are people like you who put constantly put down urban communities, but you have no problem with bringing your children to McKeesport to participate in the programs that the Club offers. All while you look down on the kids who look to that place for help, guidance, and every other opportunity that they get from being there. This club would not be there if not for McKeesport and the dreams of people that wanted to truly help and guide kids to a better way of life. I don't know where I would be today if it weren't for the people who ran that club when I was a kid. Thank God people like you don't run it or MYBO or any of the other organizations because where would our children be then?

Now, it is time for me to chime in and wrap this up. I will break this down to the simplest form for you. Does the Boys and Girls Club of America do great things... YES!!! Does the LaRosa Boys and Girls Club offer alternatives to kids in the ghetto's of the Port... YES!!!! Does MYBO and their "Upper Management" want these inner-city as you call them kids in their organization.... NO!!!! all you have to do is look at the make up of the teams they put on the field. I made it a point to attend 5 baseball games and 2 softball games this season where MYBO teams were playing. The Baseball teams in the 8, 10 and 12u levels were very much dominated by... let's say ... non - inner city youth. The Softball Game was ALL non-inner city Youth. Holding signups there so you can keep your association is not what I consider reaching out. Theuir Baseball CLinics and Fall Ball teams also do not include many "inner-City" Youth that need someone to turn to as a positive influence. The BC offers these services to kids all over the country, but to equate MYBO to the BC is doing the Club an injustice, They are si much more than MYBO... and MYBO is NOT what the BC of America Stands for. And as far as facilities.. they use Renzie Park... just like the rest of the McKeesport Organizations. Great Fields!! City does an amazing job with them.

Could not agree more, took my kids to their FREE clinics this year (which I heard about from the guy doing signups this year while at a basketball game at the club) and will be signing both of my boys up at mybo next year. It seemed like the guy doing the signups was asking every kid if they wanted to play ball, and knew most of them as well as their parents. All the Kids really seemed to enjoy the free clinics and the instruction was very good. I have taken my oldest son to other camps that cost money and the instruction was not as good as what he got down at the boys club! I really liked how they had some of the older kids who play at higher levels helping out and getting volunter hours for their churches or schools. The people that run mybo can be proud of the great work that they do for all of our kids!

The MYBO Coaches try, and should be commended, But too many of them are abusive verbally towards their players, parents and umpires, other teams coaches and parents., This is where the problem comes in. When your team manager is screaming constantly, the message is lost in the madness. The conduct of the Parents it what is wrong with MYBO.. and add in MBA. They are an embarassment and that is why my kids will NEVER pay or represent any Port organization again. I will never be guilty by association again. When other organizations blow sirens when the Port parents come and joke about how they will all take off running to the woods when they hear it, it is time to take a hard look at the conduct. When police are called not once but twice to games where Port PArents were making a scene that 2 different games had to be stopped, it is time to move on. MYBO is a disgrace, but not for their lack of baseball knowledge, which coaches like M, B, And JB have very little clue about, it is much more of a disgrace for the lack of professional conduct that should be demanded of their parents when showing up at games. It is you people that make NYBOI the terrible place to play and an embarassment for kids to represent. It would be better for McKeesport parents to not show up, than to show and act the way they do. I am embarassed for your kids.

Well said!! Most other organizations throughout the area enforce a code of conduct on their parents. I know for a fact, because I have drawn up the formal documents for 5 organizations. MYBO and The Little PittBulls were not among them. There is only 1 local organization that actually kicked a family out because they attacked an umpire and continued to fight after the game. Also, there was a case where a coach showed up drunk to a game. She was also kicked out of the same organization. McKeesport Parents at their best!!!

I would like to know how you intend on controlling parents. Adults are going to do whatever they want, just watch the news. Everyday someone does something that they know they aren't allowed or shouldn't do, so I would like to know how a code of conduct is going to stop someone from acting like a fool. Also I would like to know who is going to enforce this code of conduct on parents. The coaches are coaching, are they supposed to hear everything that is happening in the stands? What organization can afford to have a police officer or security guard policing the games?

Parents who hoot and holler at just about every sporting event that their kids are involved in no matter where they are from. I have been to many ball fields and arenas around the area where the parents in these other communities are worse than any McKeesport parent that I have seen. No matter where you go, parents try to live through their kids and that is where the screaming and nonsense begins. But people from other places want to talk horribly about McKeesport parents, but many of them are worse. Not only are they screaming and yelling at the kids, but they put down McKeesport and so their kids have no respect for the kids that they are playing against. They think they can treat the McKeesport kids like crap and that causes confrontations between players on the field. Kids don't naturally hate, they are taught to hate. I have been to baseball games in other communities where I saw baseball coaches scream at a kids so much that they couldn't stop crying and no one did anything about it. I have sat in bleachers near people from other places and listened to people put down the kids on the field. I have listened to people from other places put down my child because he is a good ball player, screaming and saying horrible things at him. What should I have done? Kept my mouth shut and let this person put my 12 year old son down so much that I could see the tears in his eyes? Or should I have spoken up and told that person to stop. But being from McKeesport that would have made me the instigator. So what should I have done? McKeesport has its issues, and those issues begin with bigoted people like the ones on here putting everyone down.

My neighbors son played on this team this year and he is still on cloud nine from the fact that he got to play at PNC Park this year. I dont know of many organizations locally who give our kids this kind of opportunity and many others like it. His parents are very pleased with what he gets out of baseball and can't say enough good things about this MYBO organization. My oldest boy is now 4 years old and I can tell you when he gets old enough to play baseball it will be with them.
