Seriously. What will a new police station mean to combating the growing crime and drug problem in this town? Nothing! Our town leaders think the way to address the crime problem by adding fancy things like crime watch meetings and a new quarter million dollar police station rather than more police and high resolution cameras in key areas around town. I mean, really, what in the hell are they going to put in a $250,000 police station for Glassport? A Dunkin Donut drive thru so the police can get a coffee and donut on the run? A direct line to Mama Pepinos so the police don't have to look up their phone number to call in their lunch order? Sleeping quarters for our men in blue so they won't get caught by the local newspaper sleeping in the coffee shop? This is a ridiculous waste of taxpayer money. Again. Now it's happening with Rosemary, Kowalski, and DeSue. Anybody see the common denominator of which name is involved in every controversial or stupid decision this town makes and has been for the last 10 plus years?
Mayor Bradley, Council President Kowalski, you both have disappointed me. You are no better, and may turn out to be far worse, than what we just got rid of. You have let the citizens and the voters of this boro down.
I agree very interesting post

Simple solution....those who do not live in Glassport defer your comments.

Glassport cannot afford local administration. Most Boro services should be contracted out to reduce admin costs, training, pensions, benefits.

The town has virtually collapsed due to aged infrastructure and housing stock. Redevelopment of the dated and functionally obsolescent business main drag should include condemnation, lot assemblage and attraction of service businesses.

And stop electing inexperience....or your days are really numbered.

Fat Angelo walking the main drag down by hemlock promoting his crime watch. Maybe I'll get out of my truck and spit in his face one day. Little dumb wop.

Think they old rethink the budget on this project and instead hire a couple more cops to patrol the streets. Enforce curfew. Enforce no loitering. Run the town enforcement like our neighboring boroughs do.
definetly, have enough of a police presence after curfew too get the kids off the streets. And id everyone else out after 10! Everyone should know by now that the average law abiding citizen in glassport arn't taking fresh air walks after the sun goes down. If you have nothing to hide who cares if a cop asks to see who you are

Porch lights are proven deterrents for crime. Businesses with security systems help. Courts will serious sentences help. Local leadership free of the Glassport curse.....Democrat corruption...helps.

I'd like to know why a police station needs to be built on a five acre piece of property. Why isn't this piece of property up for auction? What isn't being told to us regarding land in the borough? I'd like to see a list of property in Glassport under borough control. Hell, I'd like to see a list of property for the school district, and a list of properties that have been transferred from borough to individuals and their relationship to any position in the boroughs or school district.

And who is it that got the contract for the new police station? Who is it that was in charge of making sure the bids stayed sealed? Does that person have any ties to the contractor. Would like to see that person being audited.

Deliberately blight the school district, properties values go down, land developers buy in masses, choice real estate, like this five acre piece of property are used for personal gain. Funny how the police couldn't adequately patrol the abandoned property that the adolescent was recently hurt on. And a news interview went out by the mayors condemning the owner accusing him of negligently not safeguarding the property. How long before the borough acquires this choice piece of real estate? To eventually sell to someone with their eyes on the prize!

As annoying as no shame is, look past that, and look at all the alleged corruption being uncovered.

Miller just recently built a new business on a choice piece of real estate in McKeesport. How much was that property sold to him for? People sitting on school boards are taking advantage of land purchases. This isn't a coincidence.

They don't want to call in the county, because if the town became safer, we wouldn't have so much abandoned property up for grabs at dirt cheap prices. Hell, they will even use your tax dollars to tear down buildings before that property is sucked up by the land czars so they don't have to invest any of their profits into tearing anything down.

Five acres of choice real estate for a police station? Something is wrong here.

There's a lot of property including the pool property that should be publicly auctioned off. I agree that it's excessive for the police station to be built on a five acre plot. Why dont they just relocate the police into the fire dept. Im sure there's room.

Because theyre making room for a new firehall, and borough bldg and magistrates office too. They will get grant money for those also and inflate the costs just like the PD and have to take out loans to cover the differences to burden taxpayers with. If they put projects in town like theyre talking about doing they will need larger facilities to accomidate all the criminal element. They are coming and theres nothing youre going to do to stop it.

Rumor has it the stadium is going to be a section 8 highrise complex.Theyre getting a grant to put it in. And the school district is building a new stadium up at the ballfield in Port vue. So your school taxes are going to go up up up.

That property at the end of town where that kud fell 30 feet is also being eyed up for high rise projects too. Welcome to little Clairton.
