It seems like the good State Rep. committed an error in judgment or was just plain foolish or out of character.<quoted text>
Your words Gergely, "Who me? Not me," Gergely replied. "I just want to take care of you." (You, meaning Ronald Melocchi aka Porky caught by Operation Pork Chop for illegal actions.)
McKeesport has a reputation of protecting criminals in a private manner. Wiretap was only one means of discovery, but everything in McKeesport goes much deeper.)
Report illegal action, the only action Gergely needed to do. The State Liqour Board and the Attorney General should heave been contacted. Rep. Gergely failed McKeesport residents. His brother works for McKeesport.
It will be up the Commonwealth AG and PSP to determine the ramifications of this one and its legal risk within the context of 16 solid gambling related indictments.
Mr. Gergely did not cast himself well in the Mayor Cherepko "Dignity and Love" feel good theme. His alleged act did not past the sniff test and “Dignity and Hope” deportment criterion.
Mr. Gergely also unfairly embarrassed his brother who is a high ranking appointed City official with a lot of clout. We sympathize with this respected City official for the unwise conduct and perhaps self-incriminating demeanor and his brother's perceived wayward drift.
In addition, the good State Rep may have inadvertently besmirched the excellent reputation of his Chief of Staff who is an excellent MASD school board member. We hope and pray that he is out of range of any collateral damage to his reputation.
I would suspect that the AG and PSP will certainly explore and exploit the degree of his connectivity to Mr. Porky and Operation Pork Chop.
