It has been brought to my attention that several teachers teaching in Jackson County do not have the appropriate credentials to actually teach the subjects in which they are teaching. It's so depressing to hear that student's are constantly paying the price for small town/big politics! For those parents who wish to be informed I want to post a link where you may type in any "educator" and find their exact credentials. https://wd.kyepsb.net/EPSB.WebApps/KECI/

I know several people choose to go the emergency certification route to teaching; however I do not see the similarities between a Criminal Justice Degree and teaching children with Learning and Behavioral Disorders. WHY is education different than any other occupation? I wouldn't go to a foot specialist to have my heart worked on!!! Why is it that the Jackson County Board of Education does not seek people with the appropriate credentials to teach our students!!!! I think once the board gets some integrity and honesty our school system will truly flourish and experience HUGE gains in academics!

I think anyone that has a child in the school should always make sure their children's teacher has the right credentials to teach their children

Those new none certified teachers must be from Clay county or Tyner. Whose is the new girl from clay county at the high school that shares an office with Freddy McQueen?

I think most teachers are certified to teach some have emergency certificate. To concerned parent if you so damn concern why do you want to get rid of Hoskins, he probably done more for the system than any superintendent
. Who do you want them to hire??????????

Do you know the qualifications needed to get emergency certified? I assure you it's not as intensive as 4 years in an Accredited University. During those 4 years you are taught laws and you are taught principles and core needed to teach students. I fear that someone with a criminal justice degree is hardly qualified to teach my child who has a Learning and Behavior Disorder! It is what it is with that County. I know that those with the Emergency Certification are on the road to a teaching certificate however I do not think they are as qualified as the numerous applications sitting with dust on them at the Board of Education!

I can see why you are so concerned for Hoskins. He took the money to finish Sand Gap school and gave it to Tyner. You are from that area. When the teachers were bringing tupperware containers for the children to put their coats in we said enough. We got rid of Hisel who is one off the finest people in the county because he went along with Hoskins. If he had treated every part of the county the same and fairly his contract would have been renewed.

There is a plan in the works and plans take time. Go back a couple years ago, to the SandGap board election. Don Collett and Glendon Lear searched High and Low trying to talk someone into running until they finally convinced Darren Marcum. Understand, you have to have 3 board members to vote a certain way to have majority vote. Lear can not do his plans by himself. So, now Lear has Marcum and Richmond in his corner. They can vote in Mike Smith as supertindent and DON Collett as assistant. Not satisfied with this plan, Don wants to make sure that his family stays in as JUdge Executive. Yes, William O smith is Don Collets family. DOn's mom is married to William O's brother. That is why DOn is also on the county payroll. SO, they want Jerry Dean for clerk because they think Duck has cheated them a time or too on elections such as Janice Tillerys, Denny Peyman for Sheriff because he is a Glendon puppet, and Ronnie Gabbard for Jailer. That is their plan.

I know there are people teaching in our schools that are not certified. I can't understand why as parents we should let this happen. We should contact the board or maybe call the state. This may work nad if you want to check to check and see if your child's teacher is certified punch their name in at this web site and it will tell or if not listed they are not certified..http://wd.kyepsb.ne t/EPSB.WebApps/KECI/

They probably entered the MATS program which is the biggest joke in the world. They are not qualified to teach. This program was setup years ago because of a shortage of teachers.
There is no longer any shortage. Fact, they use this program to hire who they want to hire looking over qualified teacher applications. Until the Dept of Ed stops the MATS program and quits issuing emergency certificates, this practice will continue.
Please check the DOE website and just look at how many emergency certificates the state used to issue. They just put them in the MAT program now. Enroll in a grad course and you can teach. This is nothing but a major injustice and slap in the face to teachers who actually went to school to be teachers.
