Seance you are a video expert could you tell me if the reflective clear coat paint works to distort a license plate numbers so the camera cant take a clear photo of the plate.

I'm so disgusted but this too. I've gotten 5 tickets from this intersection and going to fight one of them tomorrow. My issue is that that I'm not an unsafe driver. I usually slow down to almost a stop every time...its just not a dead stop. The one I'm fighting tomorrow I actually did stop but it was before the camera started filming. I remember rolling over the line at .5 MPH thinking, "SON OF A b$#%!...ANOTHER DAMN TICKET!" . I now treat these lights as no turn on red.
The fact that you have gotten five tickets while the majority of us have never had one just speaks for your poor driving habbits! Hmm after the first four you still couldn't figure out that you need to stop? Yikes! Hate to see how you do on the difficult tests in life?

actually it does work but you have to apply it correctly.

1 ) oddly enough only Ace Hardware carries it. You won't find it at Menards or Home Depot.
2 ) apply too much and it'll reflect light back at a driver behind you at night. Which can draw attention from a cop behind you at night.
3 ) clean your license plate.
4 ) apply a small amount to a rag.
5 ) rub it onto only the numbers and around that area.
6 ) a little goes a long way so one can is all you need. Last a long time too.
7 ) reapply after a car wash or heavy rain.

How it works is it throws back the light from the high intense flash of the cameras.
But you want it to look like the sun did it or bad angle did it.
Just enough of an over exposure to make it seem normal.
A huge flash off a whole plate would not be normal.
Nor would a strong reflection at night from the car behind you.
A little goes a long way.

I was told earlier I was foolish to drive around this light just because I got a ticket for a hollywood stop turning right. As a Pilot I learned long time ago to avoid a problem if you know there is one . I fly around bad weather all the time, or climb to a higher altitude. I avoid this light by if I'am going east I turn prior to 12 by going to the Volo auto museum and continue to the turn on 120. The light at 12 there doesn't have the red light camera. If I'am going south on 12 I turn at Darrel Road by Thortons gas station, I usually pull in there for a cup of coffee anyway. One poster said that "crazy" just "STOP" TRUE but at times we all don't make that complete stop as I didn't, so I enjoy going around this light just to make me feel better. A
note of interest: The person reviewing these violations is a retired JUDGE and gets paid $134,000 a year for this job. so you know they are pulling in big bucks with this ONE red light. If you have time read the Article "MYSTERY MAN" entered to prove how much money these lights are pulling in and many areas are removing them because they are not preventing accidents and in some cases are causing them !

We just got a notice in our mail about an outstanding ticket that my husband saposingly got...We never got any ticket in the mail. We come to find out my husband got 11 tickets at 120 and 12 Lake Moor when he was going to work everyday. His front bumper was on the white line on the street when he came to a complete stop at the light. They consider his bumper to be too far and ticketing him for going through a red light EVEN though he was completely stopped at the light! They had sent all the tickets to a wrong address so now because they have gone in collections they are NOT allowing us to fight the tickets. What do we do? This is outrageous. My husband if he even got ONE ticket in the mail he would have watched that intersection, but to get 11tickets?????

really sorry that happened to you.
It does prove why only a live human instead of a camera should be issuing tickets.
At least with a cop handing it out you would know what and WHEN.

All you can do now is get a lawyer and fight it based on it arriving to the wrong address. You'll probably still owe but maybe you can get out of any extra penalties.

Whoever received those tickets is a true ahole for not turning them in to the cops or to you.
Considering some of the hate posts i've gotten in here i now believe the world is filled with such aholes.
Good luck with the tickets. Fight the good fight.

Thank you for the heads up regarding the intersection of 12 and 120! I will not shop at any businesses on or near an intersection with one of these red light cameras. It's a racket, somewhere between Big Brother and a Shakedown. The only thing that anyone cares about is MONEY. It is the only power I have. No, I will NOT spend my money there; small business owners will have to fight their village to get rid of the cameras, or lose their businesses. It might be unfair, but I'm not the one bringing the fight, big brother is. Money talks; it's all I've got.

Boycotting as of now at 120 and 12 in Lakemoor and 14 and 22 in Fox River Grove.

Who cares.
You probably never spent a dime at any of those shops.
Those of us who actually do shop there know the people as well as the stores.
We'll still shop there.

Just got one of these and I sell at the Volo Antique Malls. Twisted is right. The first photo clearly shows me BEFORE the white Line, 3 seconds later, about 1 car length beyond it. That about right to stop, look and go. Lakemoor has a LONG history of pulling people over to make money and for years, I've driven through there under the speed limit. I WILL go to court. I'm disabled and a VET and can't afford this BS that I know to be wrong. This is the type of crap that makes people go Postal! I wish more people had said whether they thought the judge "fair" on their day in court.

IT's complete BS!
I contested both- had to follow them up only to get a call saying I didnt win. I was told to expect an official letter this week.
this was my letter:Dear Village of Lakemoor,
I am writing to contest 2 red light violations that I recently received XXXXXX, XXXXX
The 1st violation I received was at that very same intersection on Feb. 17,2013 but I wasn’t notified until after March 11, 2013. That is more than 3 weeks past the violation date. I was then accused of another violation that happened on March 3,2013 but I wasn’t notified of it until more than 3 weeks had past. If I was notified of it sooner, I could of avoided getting the 2nd one. I would have been able to adjust my driving habits right away to avoid the 2nd violation.
There was nothing dangerous in the way I made the turn. From looking at the video, I could tell that I slowed down to a complete stop before making the turn, there was no oncoming traffic so I made the turn, everything was perfectly safe. I did have to creep up after I stopped to look to make sure that it was safe to proceed.
I hope you take my contest in consideration.

Yep, its all a crock. 90% of tickets issued are for right hand turn violations (stopping over the line, not stopping long enough, etc). It's a complete joke and rip off of taxpayers again. I for one will be taking my business far far away from any town that has them.

i wish you go away.
The truth is you don't shop there anyway.
You just like to run your mouth.
So your threats mean zip. You never ever shop there.

I do shop along rt 12.
these businesses can use real support not clowns that just want to boycott what they don't have a clue about.

I drive a lot more careful in the area.
I take frontage roads when i can.
I wait for the green light in spite of fully stopping at the line.

Most of all i support honest Americans working hard to make ends meet for their families is spite of clowns that would try and hurt their jobs.
I recommend supporting those who work at these stores and not clowns who just want to blow past a stop sign.

Good for you Mr. Narcissist! I'm sure the route 12 shop owners love when you stop in and spend your 10 cents.

As for me, I will stick to the towns that don't like to rake their shoppers over the coals. Let the businesses start crying a little, maybe someone will start to listen.

Mystery man, I have one question for you.... Are you also boycotting the businesses in your own town of Gurnee? They had red light cameras too! And if your boycotting towns with red light cameras you won't be frequenting too many businesses as there are far more towns that use these cameras than don't!

Mr. Narcissist Mystery Man is not boycotting. A few other posters are. I avoid shopping in Gurnee period. I prefer to shop in Antioch, Round Lake and anywhere else that doesn't have the cameras. At some point you have to take a stand. If it means driving a bit further and planning ahead I do it. I would prefer to take my dollars somewhere where it is wanted and appreciated. Not somewhere where they hope you stop over a white line and owe them 100 bucks.

the ONLY thing you got right is i don't boycott.
I don't believe in hurting American workers.
There are other ways to make a point and to achieve what you want in life without hurting Americans trying to put food their tables.

I love how you try switch gears and insinuate that the businesses are ripping customers off. The store prices along rt12 are the same as anywhere else. So that is another of your typical lies.
Businesses don't cry that is another one of your more stupid lies.
Businesses do what they can to tighten their belts by layoffs and other such measures.
My 10 cent spending ? LOL i probably give away more in a yr then you spend in a lifetime. Its people who care that keep the economy going not people who boycott. I dare you to show me proof that boycotting helps workers.
The people who are listening are the newly elected officials because they know this is one of the issues that got the other politician voted out and them voted in.
THAT is how its done.
Voting is how these things actually get accomplished.
