Carol is a good lady, a professional who is not afrid to throw the book when neccessary.
We need to retain this woman to the bench for another ten years. Franklin county needs more public servants like Carol.

Judge Van Horn has done an excellent job for the people of Franklin and Fulton Counties for the last 10 years. She runs an appropriately strict but fair courtroom, and her rulings are thoughtful and demonstrate consideration of the positions of both sides, while applying the law to the facts. Judge Van Horn should definitely be retained.

Is this not the same judge who let the Penn State Mont Alto rapists go with just community service?

This is same judge who went against probation and parole recommendation and placed scott north, a career criminal on work release. He walked off and murdered one of our citizens. Van Horn isn't fit to judge a dog. She thinks she can play God. She goes on and on about everything she has done but doesn't mention all the poor judgements she has made the past ten years. It is pretty bad when someone is a judge for only ten years and has already contributed to a murder because of poor judgement. It's a shame that it takes so much effort to oust a judge once they are in office. It has been done though. She deserves nothing less than to loose her judgeship.

Hey Van Horn:
I don't see any comment even remotely mentioning "stiffer sentences and punishment" in your story.

I see alot of someone else doing part of your job (a juvenile court master?). I REALLY like the comment that "Since Van Horn's main focus is hearing juvenile cases, she still has the serious offenses brought before her." Yeah I sure would hope so, isn't that what you are paid for??

I also enjoyed the phraseology of "new treatment initiatives," "additional means of treatment," and more.

You, Madam, are a JUDGE - NOT the county's social worker.

How about YOU and your fellow judges here in Franklin County - perhaps consider dispensing some real justice from your bench, on behlaf of crime victims in our region??

Compared to your peers north, east and south of us, you are quite lacking in that regard.

Judge Van Horn is the best Judge in Franklin County and it's not even close. Having said that I don't mean any disrespect to our other judges, but Van Horn gets the job done. She's swift, stern, tough, yet fair. She lets the trash bag know how badly he screwed up, instead of just reading from the court documents like a robot.

She'll be retained.

So what if she did. you're just jealous. If you had gone to law school, you would be making the big bucks now.

All that says is that Franklin County is seriously lacking in "good" judges. Being better than mediocrity is not a value to proclaim.

Hmmm...he didn't say it was the money that he's concerned with it was the unconstitutional portion that she took.

Vote no!

She won't be retained by MY vote, Skippy!

All county judges are weak in the knees - don't know how to make the sentence equal the impact of the crime.

Get real.

Listen up Franklin County! VanHorn may not be lenient enough for you, or tough enough , or political enough, or male enough, or liberal enough, or conservative enough, but she is, hands down, the best thing our county has going for us with regards to the judiciary.
Judge Walsh will curl up with minutiae for days. Judge Herman has a short temper & occasional inability to see the forest through the trees. With Judge Walker, the rules of law have nothing to do with the courtroom. Oh yeah! Our future judges will give us either a tedious, pompous, and "wife-deffering" response, boy-crazy, pseudo-intelligent response.
Thank god we've got an alternative.
