If these counts are true than with not knowing anything about the case with except the fact that a man got killed if I was on a jury I would by definition have to strike Malice Murder. They would have to prove that Chaz Brown woke up that morning with intention of killing Ryan. I would also by definition have to strike Felony murder. A rape, kidnapping, arm robbery or car jacking was not taken place. I am suprise that he wasnt charged with 2nd degree murder which is the usually circumstance in a bar fight. Which would have given him a longer sentence. Looks like a plea will be involved with the manslaughter and aggravated assault. If no plea is involved more than likely these charges could be served as concurrent instead of consecutive and since he was never convicted of a major crime before he will get 15 to 20 years and with good behavior he will get paroled in half that time 7 to 10.

I was there the night ryan died. I saw it all, between the beginning moments in the booth inside the bar to were a fucking idiot tried to take a 7 foot giant holding a knife openly. All you blog experts that hear about a kid dying outside a bar instantly believe that the poor victim didn't do anything at all to earn his fate.
Right now let me say it. I truly hurt for Ryan and his family but I just read all this, and had to speak my piece.
Ryan was calm and everybody else was, the bouncers were heading back inside, the scuffle was done. And the "Murderer- a 7 foot big mother wearing leather chaps and vest. My personal opinion the only dude in the bar i wouldnt say a word to pulled a knife out openly as a deterrent. then ten seconds later comes a stupid intoxicated drunk idiot deciding to tackle this guy wielding a knife.
All Im saying is I saw ryan run across a parking lot after a man twice his size holding i knife.
There were many variables in this death including the knife but the major deciding factor was -Ryan's choice to tackle a man holding a knife decided his fate.
Ryan made a blurred decision that led his family to suffer the consequences

If the man is SO big, why did he feel the need to show a knife to get his point across?? Stabbing someone multiple times & cutting their throat that is "half the size" as you say doesnt make sense to me. If Ryan was as drunk as you say he was, then this Chaz guy could have thrown him off easily since he was so much bigger, right?? Nothing that anyone says on here will bring Ryan back to the people who love & care for him. I guess all of you should be lucky enough to have life that you can sit here and argue about "I was there and I saw this BLAH BLAH BLAH-- Ryan is never coming back, thanks to a man that was DOUBLE his age and should have had enough sense. Ryan was murdered, Chaz should be too.

The prosecution doesn't have to show that the accused "woke up" with the intention of killing Ryan. All they have to prove to show malice murder is that he intended to cause the death of another and that intent can be arrived at just seconds before the act. Also, to prove felony murder, all they have to prove is that a felony occurred, such as Aggravated Assault (i.e. pulling a knife on someone), and that someone died during the commission of that felony.
Make sure you know what you are talking about before you speak.

HMMM Counts of an idiot look who is the idiot?
When applied to the crime of murder, malice is the mental condition that motivates one individual to take the life of another individual without just cause or provocation. Key being there without just cause or provocation?
So with that definition Ryan was passing out Bibles standing around and Chaz just came up in stabbed him?

OK on Felony Murder definiton felony murder doctrine n. a rule of criminal statutes that any death which occurs during the commission of a felony is first degree murder, and all participants in that felony or attempted felony can be charged with and found guilty of murder. A typical example is a robbery involving more than one criminal, in which one of them shoots, beats to death or runs over a store clerk, killing the clerk. Even if the death were accidental, all of the participants can be found guilty of felony murder, including those who did no harm, had no gun, and/or did not intend to hurt anyone. In a bizarre situation, if one of the hold-up men or women is killed, his fellow robbers can be charged with murder. So by the defintion a Felony had to be taking place robbery, rape etcthe crime of physically attacking another person which results in serious bodily harm and/or is made with a deadly or dangerous weapon such as a gun, knife, sword, ax or blunt instrument. Aggravated assault is usually a felony punishable by a term in state prison? So who again I wasnt there who attacked who originally? Did Ryan jump on Chaz resulting in his death or did the overweight 43 double his age Chaz chase down a young better fit Ryan and catch and kill him?

Hey Freak - you're a freakin' idiot - call the jail and get your facts straight before you throw out BS information - the Charles Edward Brown released was a black man charged on DUI - released 10/3 on $2,000 bail. I spoke to the jail myself. F'ing CHAZ is still in jail and will be there until this goes to court, and prayerfully for the rest of his life. Chaz took Ryan's life and he needs to suffer for the rest of his. The death penalty would be too good for him - I hope he rots in there till his last breath on earth!

Whew thanks for clarifying...I was beginning to wonder how on earth he was out when someone is dead! I don't know either party, but I was there the night Ryan was murdered, happened right in front of my car, and in NO way should he be out before his court date, or even after in my opinion!

I did call the jail and I posted what I was told. I suggest that you try to control your rage rather than lashing out at personal attacks on people posting what they've heard. Rage is what drove the events of March 8th, to their conclusion. Nothing will bring back your friend and nothing you do will affect what happens to Chaz.

Of course, the fact that you ride a Street Glide might explain a portion of your rage...;)
