I for one think that anything that will bring people to town is a great thing. It is also great for something for kids to do in the heat. This could be a goal for the people to raiae money just like Pendleton did for the park there.

How about something they can use all year like the boys and girls club?

If all towns thought this way there would have been no pools ever. There needs to be something to do in the summer for kids.

If someone want to take on a boys and girls club go for it. We could use both for sure.

How much more money do you want to bleed from me? the school pools used to be open during the summer. What is wrong with that? We have overpaid for that project, use it.

They don't want to build a pool, they want a splash park/pad. I'd be more in favor of a pool than a splash park. That way the parents that are bringing their kids to Fortville can benefit also. And as a bonus they can teach swim lessons, that could save their life, which you don't get at a splash park.

Either one would be al least something for Fortville. The only thing about a pool is school is starting August 1 now and a pool would not be open after school started. This new balence calendar will play a role in all pools in areas where it is done. A splash park can be open even when school in in.

We do not need a splash park it is a waste of time and money. Go to Fishers if you want to use one! There are a certain town board members who want the police department to go back writing town ordinance violations so they can use that money to build it. They are getting upset that the police are not writing people tickets because the town board wants more of your money! All they care about is more of your money! TIME FOR A CHANGE!!

Aren't the police supposed to be writing ordinance violations as part of their job? Unfortunately the ones I usually see are too busy talking on their cell phones to write ordinance violations, use turn signals, etc.

I think you guys are on the wrong post. This is splash park not Fortville Police.

Do we need a splash park. YES YES and YES. This is town is dead and we need to help it bring it back. Some are doing that but we need more. Get over your selves and get on board. Progress has never been Fortville's strong spot. We have people that complain about everything so nothing get's done. For once Fortville's could be a little progressive. We could have a great little town here.

Then how about a pool instead of a splash park? Then how about getting the boys and girls club back open? Then how about getting the schools straightened out and quit cutting teachers and programs? I think it will take more than a splash part to turn that around.

I have no more money to give...I am tapped out. My industy hasnt had a raise that was equal too or even close to cost of living in 4 years. If someone donates it and volunteers take care it, then great, but otherwise stay out of my wallet.

I think you may be a little off-base here. While the council created the town ordinance violations as a way to help bring in revenue, I don't think they intended it to be a negative thing.
First, yes, they do want the money from the tickets that the cops write in town. For example, let's say you were speeding on Poplar Street. If they pull you over and write you a normal ticket, the fine is $110. Fortville gets $5 or $10 of that. The rest goes to the state and the county. HOWEVER, if they write a "Fortville" ticket, the fine is about 1/2 to 2/3 less and the town keeps 80-90% of the money. Thus, the fine is lower (better for you) and the town keeps a bigger cut of the money (better for you and the town).
The town has to have money to operate. I'd rather have them keep money from people who are breaking the law than raise taxes or water and sewer rates on normal, everyday people.
