I would just like to say that if you get involved with the McComb, Police 45858 or anything at the city building and you want your name to be kept private for reataliation reason's there is a person in the city building that will get the information out ahead of time to tip off the person or person's you have made a complaint with or reported a crime. It's too bad we have to live with people like this that the public can not trust their own city government to protect them from the people that were hired by the city to protect our community. I think this happen's all the time and in different communities as well.

The other problem with the McComb police department is that chief Greg Smith does whatever he wants. He has no suppervision and when asked our great mayor says there is nothing he can do. Last weekend was the cookie fest, how many cops on duty. I counted 3 at the fest and 2 driving around all day. On a normal Saturday we have 1 officer on duty, who is paying for these extra hours? That's right the same people they keep raising tax on. The people in charge of running cookie fest should be footing this bill and the bill for the village employees setting up the park for them. This is not how the community taxes should be spent. The town is going down hill and 4 council seats will be up for election in 2009 and should all be new members.

I think the Hancock County Sheriff Department and the McComb, Ohio Police Department are a big joke like Larry,Curly and Moe. I don't care what anyone else thinks either. That is the dealings I have had with them. By the time they get done asking you questions about what you are reporting the perpertators are gone and who know's what could have happened in the time it takes for them to ask stupid questions. They just sit around anyway so why does it make any differance about their ages how many or wheather they can or cannot do about it. As far as I'm concerned every call should be checked out and that should be the law. I alos know they smoke inside the police station in which I thought you couldn't smoke in city buildings. They should show some respect to citizens and go out side like everyone else has to do and stand away from the door way 30 feet. This really bothers me when I have to go up to the police station and have to smell the gross smell cigarettes. Everytime I go up there the door's are looked anyways. What are they doing in there anyways I wander? Like I said before if you file a complaint on someone big mouth Greg Smith goes up to the City building and tells everyone then the people are contacted from someone who overhears him and they notify the people that the police are coming to their house. Maybe we need to take up signature's to get Graig Smith removed from being a police in McComb, Ohio.

It is truly pathetic. The Village of McComb, Ohio is a very small town. Most small Village police agencies throughout the State of Ohio and all states for that matter are poorer and have less than good police equipment. I work for a small Village in Ohio and our department has less than average vehicles and equipment. Small departments usually do not have the spending luxury of what big city departments do. Greg Smith is extremely stupid when it comes to department spending. His vehicles are top of the line, and he wastes taxpayer dollars on a take home vehicle. He resides in the Village and does not need to waste taxpayer money on gas and everything else. I am glad to say that I do not live in McComb and pay taxes there. I feel very sorry for people that do and you have my sympathy. I constantly ask myself, how did Greg Smith EVER manage to become a Chief of Police???? He does not have near the experience or education required to be in such a position. He became Chief all because of his daddy. If you are Republican, I am sorry for this next comment and I strongly encourage you to stop reading this. If you do read this, please, do not take it personally. Who else got their current job because of daddy???....Who else other than President George Bush!! Look what he has done to our country and economy!! This is exactly what Greg Smith is doing to McComb. He is wasting taxpayer money and he is an over zealous spender. I would encourage the residents of McComb to bring that up to council. I just heard that Smith recently purchased a brand new Explorer. Red and blue lights for police are outrageously expensive. His vehicles have more lights on them than a State Troopers vehicle...and possibly more lights than my Christmas tree, which for the record has 4 stands of lights for a grand total of 400 individual bulbs. If you get a citation from the McComb Police Department, I would take it to court and question the placement of the lightbars on their vehicles. The red is typically on the left side above the driver and the blue is on the right above the passenger on ALL police vehicles in the State of Ohio that I have ever seen. Greg Smith is too stupid to have realized this evidently and his lights are on his vehicles backwards.

For someone who thinks they are in the know about McComb. You are greatly misinformed. Chief Smith did not purchase the vehicle in question on his own. The council approved the purchase. Did you see any of the proposals and bids that were submitted on the vehicle? Did you discuss any of this with a coucil member? Or are you sitting at the VFW in McComb with all of the rest of the people who think they know so much.

Exactly my point...council approved the purchase. He had to draw everything up and request the vehicle...he was the one that decided what type of lights to put on it and how many...And no...I dont live in McComb, I am thankfully an outsider. That small of an agency doesnt need so many new nice cars.
It truly is ridiculous

I totally agree with the other posters about Chief Smith and his new police car. On my way to the grocery store about a month ago, I wittnessed him pull up along the curb to his father's house and put his lights on where he proceded to have a conversation with his father who had been out shoveling snow. Not only was he on the snowy busy street, which was already dangerous and slippery, he was using MY tax money to visit with his dad and show off this new vehicle! I can not believe it each time I see a new(seriously, how many cars does a town of about 3000 need??)vehicle on our McComb streets! It's time to get rid of Greg Smith and his goofy sidekicks!

The local police are usally given the choice of selecting what goes on a polic vehicale if the are the police cheif anywhere and then it is voted on by the council. The people that go to the VFW just say good things about the council and McComb so they will not get a ticket when they get stopped by the McComb, Ohio police department they just say they are a member of the VFW that are just a bunch of drunks and idiot's anyway.
