Sure, I've been there last Saturday and will go back month end. It's a shame that so many businesses have had to close because of all that negativity over here. Although there still lots of people who are still going to Progresso and the winter texans are coming back too. I am far more afraid of the brutal tactics of the police over here than anything else in Mexico. We've had police like that in Germany (1938-1945)
Go back all you people and tell everybody who likes to go and enjoy Progresso - it is safe.

Do you have a recommendation on a dentist in Nuevo Progreso? Thanks.
I was last in Nuevo Progreso in 2006. Need to go back. When I went there everybody I talked to recommended Dr Mustre. His office is a block -or two down the main street from the US border -on the left hand side. I had crowns done for $150 each. Very good work. No complaints. I dont know what the prices are now.
Good luck.

I wouldn't visit Dr. Mustres Office. Students are working there, but he himself has his office in the USA.

A $150 only gold crown which is the most cheapest bad metall there as it is here in the USA is causing more health problems than anything else.
Today a good gold crown cost about $680 since the gold price has sky rocketed. Used to be $350 a few years ago.

Nowadays there's the much better material available which is called "Zirkonia" and it's made in Germany.

It comes in your own teeth color and it is very durable. It's a lot better than porcelain. Best of all it is cheaper than a realy good gold crown.
So people if you need some dental work done get all the information you need before you go to progresso to see a Dentist.

I was there yesterday, 12-3-11. They had their Welcome Back Winter Texan street party.

The main street was blocked off for about 6 blocks. Venders everywhere, food samples everywhere, people everywhere.

The Policia were there, but none had weapon's. I did not see a single gun anywhere. The thought was the tourists would appreciate seeing the Policia but the sight of weapons would concern them.

They stayed in groups of 4, going into all the businesses making their presence known.

We enjoyed our day, the sight of folks dancing in the street, it was obvious everyone was having a good day.

I felt very secure there.

The only reason our US cities may be worse than Mexico is because of the influx of illegal aliens who have brought and continue to bring crime and drugs into our country. I am tired of you Mexicans saying Mexico is safer than our cities in the US!! Why don't you take control over your own country and stop milking the US!!!

Safer than Houston, San Antonio, or Dallas, unless your in the drug or human smuggling rings around here, then things get a little treacherous. Only bad thing about McAllen, and the general area down here, the Rio Grande Valley, is car thieves get a little bolder knowing that the border is about 2 miles from any major population area, and you dont get checked going into Mexico, you just pay your $2.50 bridge fee, and keep on driving. Like I said though, life is nice and laid back down here, nobody exercises, everyones having cookouts all the time only with real mesquite wood. There is quite a bit of cheap drugs around here, because this area is like a giant warehouse, with tons and tons waiting to be shipped north everyday, hard part is getting it past the federal checkpoints, crossing over the river is easy, hence the wall. Everyday on my local news, they show you tons of weed getting caught, or if they can they'll turn around drive back to the river and drive right into the river Dukes of Hazzard style, then get out in the middle of the river, and just swim back and then look at the Border Patrol, the Border Patrol does confiscate the truck and the drugs, but the smuggler gets away, only to try again later, weird right, crazy guys let me tell ya.

Yes - you can go to any Farmacia to buy med's. There are some you might have a perscription from a doctor, but for that you'll have to find out your self. Doctors are not expensive and you can even ask the Pharmacist whether they know one who can write a perscript.
To qualify as a farmacia primera clase, there must be a consoltorio associated. In other words, someone to write your 'script.

Wish I was there. It is wonderful going there and see all the happy people outdoors. Americans as Mexicans same same. Unfortunately I had to postpone my dental appointment and missed it all out. When I went last Saturday it was pouring down and I mean we looked like wet puppies. Anyway - it's been nice like allways and I enjoyed the time being there since the scorching summer heat is gone.

Of course - you are right. It is not that any Pharmacist can perscibe med's. People would have to see a Doctor over there to get a perscription or bring a perscription of a Doctor from over here. By the way - there is a very nice american Dr.med. around the corner of the 2.block of main street. Have forgotten his name.

'SA cultural thang. Doctors have obligations to the health care system at fairly low compensation. The office at the drug store is a welcome financial enhancement.

Even though I am 73, I can still whip ass when dealing with the crummy mexicans. My daughter is a boxer and she can whip ass well and my other daughter works for the Montgomery County Police in the Wheaton/Glenmont area and that is good. Take all the mexicans, cut them with a saw, steal their money and feed the dead mexicans to the fish in the sea. Hey! The gulf of mexico is just a tad away homey. Even though I am retired and living in a senior citizens home, I can protect the new president and I ain't too old to whip the Mexican's **** and Ann Coulter is a **** and she needs to step down. Our Montgomery County Police and detectives living here in Leisure World here in Silver Spring, Maryland want to have our young college students go to Mexico to clean out their money supplies to use for our education programs. The circuit judges here in the Montgomery Judicial Center in Rockville say that the Mexicans are the ones that commit crimes on our soil so there is a coalition to get revenge on the Mexican cartel for their crimes. We plan to fight the Mexicans and rob them of their cash and weapons to bring justice on them. Ann Coulter may be pretty but my wife is a hell alot pretty than her. Ann Coulter is a sleasy tramp. You dig? Good!

Your a sorry excuse of a human yourself.. Who are you to judge any race of human? The fact that you posted your anal comment proves what a hipocrit you are. Why don't you get your buns in the fields and do the work these people do for us without complaint? Thats what I though... And you can't even spell Mexican correctly. Mexica's are not the enemy and only the cartel and corrupt government is what you are judging on. How dare you discriminate and think it is ok to call yourself an American. Get a life...

Had a good time in Progreso again yesterday at the 36th annual winter Texan appreciation day, with lots of good entertainment, free food and beer, and, once again, had $4.99 chicken fajitas at our favorite, the Red Snapper, about 4 blocks down the main street on the right, upstairs. Great food, live music, good margaritas.
