If the package were being flagged he could have been arrested when he took receipt of the package.

Tape the box back up and put it in your garage for a week. If they come by asking for it then you can say that you never opened it so you were unaware of the contents. You thought they were tools.
If they don't come by after a week invite some friends over and smoke it up.
