Iím 36 years old, never been married or have had children of my own. I live in Texas (which Iím not too happy to be in), and am originally from California (where I hope to return as soon as possible). In any case, Iíve been dating a woman whoís from Texas, South Texas to be more specific, and weíve dated on and off for the last 10 years, sheís presently 44. Weíve been living together for the past 3 years and she has 2 children whom Iíve come to know well over the years and have tried my best to bond with, considering the father is never around. I get along well with them both - one is 14 the other 18.
When I first met this woman, she was somewhat ignorant to several things which I had, and still have a considerable amount of interest in. In any case, over the years Iíve shared many things with her that she was simply never exposed to or have ever tried, different things like jazz clubs, the opera, wine, the arts, weíve travelled together and Iíve taken her different to different cities.
To bring you up to speed, Iíll simply say that Iím just about ready to finalize our relationship. She being older than me has brought on different attitudes in here that Iím just not willing to compromise for, the truth is sheís just getting older and there are certain biological issues I donít understand enough to make an effort for anymore, but this is beside the fact; I just mentioning this to bring you up to speed with where things are at the moment.
The question I have is; why do people pass things off as their own when they are completely aware of the fact that itís something they donít know anything about in order to impress other people? The woman Iím speaking of here is in the medical profession and whenever I come across a doctor or someone else she knows whom Iím having a conversation with, I literally end up hearing my very same words, opinions, tastes, or thoughts about topics as if she had materialized them? Donít get me wrong, Iím in no way thinking negatively about this, and Iím glad that it gives her an advantage to talk with professionals and doctors about topics that they may also have an interest in. What gets to me is that she flat out lies about how she came across some of these facts and thatís something Iíd like to have a better understanding of, thatís all. Like I mentioned earlier, she is gradually becoming someone who I really donít see myself with anymore so Iím not really concerned with whether she continues lying about things for the rest of her life, what I want to understand is why people do this?
Hereís a quick example: I was outside cooking some steaks for us not too long ago and preparing some Argentine sauces to go along with it. Earlier that day I came across some really nice Malbecs and so I decided ďHey I can totally do this!Ē She was on here facebook while preparing everything (which I donít mind at all, if anything I really enjoy it).The following day I saw her facebook account and it read:ďI found some really good bottles of Malbec earlier and now I have the grill going while I prepare a delicious Argentine sauce. Have a bunch of friends over, canít wait!Ē I read this and though ďwowÖĒ
This is a short example, if youíd like more in order to help you form your opinion please let me know, as there are too many to include at this very moment.
So there you have it. All I really want to know is why anyone would have a thought process that behaves this way. I just want to be able to understand the motive behind it. I know that eventually Iíll move on from all this and itís just something Iíd like to be able to identify as well in the future. Iíd really like to get the womanís perspective as well as the male point of view, but Iím really interested in what some of the women have to say.
Thanks in advance.

Who cares, life is to short to be petty. If she's good in bed and brings home a check leave it alone.
