9/11 raised emphasis, federal resources for border security

There are 2 comments on the www.themonitor.com story from Sep 11, 2011, titled 9/11 raised emphasis, federal resources for border security. In it, www.themonitor.com reports that:

Before 9/11, Border Patrol operated in a way that was more specific to its traditional mission of deterring illegal immigration and apprehending drug smugglers, Hinojosa said. Since then, Border Patrol has morphed into more of an all-threats agency in which officers could be assigned to a local narcotics task force, deployed to assist hurricane preparedness operations or patrol remote portions of the border looking to prevent terrorists from entering the country.

Just like warfare changed since Vietnam and especially since 9/11 in terms of guerrilla warfare, so has protecting our borders. The invaders are no longer just trying to come in peacefully although illegally, they are dead set on attacking anyone who interferes with their plans. They attack by any means possible and most often with deadly force.

The drug smugglers carry sophisticated weapons that have been bought on the black market or by Obama's "Fast & Furious" deals. Is it no wonder that USBP requires the same types of vehicles and fire power that are being utilized in war zones?

Prediction. More and more incidents of armed illegals crossing our border will be occurring in the coming months. Our military is spread so thin through out the world that terrorists will test our resolve at protecting our southern border. More and more Americans will be negatively involved with weapons supplied by the Obama administration to the cartels.
This is a big deal and the media is attempting to down play the significance.
