A former buyer for now what is the largest department store chain in the country, I spent a year as a sales associate in one of their stores. Briefly, the Stein Mart stores that I worked, as well as, the ones I visited around the South, were all badly over assorted with poor inventory controls and a very outdated and cumbersome markdown system. Over assorted in the sense that Stein Mart's merchandising staff in Jacksonville bought as if one or two styles of say a red Golf shirt, for example, from different vendors are good then 6 styles of the same red from 4 additional vendors will be even better. It was not unusual to see one display table with at least 25 different styles of sport shirts stuffed on the top and lower shelves with both new merchandise, as well as, odds and ends. I won't even get into the problem of merchandise constantly coming in mis-marked, and on top of that the amount of merchandise on the floor either received mis-marked or wrong prices because markdowns or ups were not executed properly once in the stores.

Hello Members,

Stein Mart carries recent trends for women and men as well as home decor, accessories and shoes at a discounted price. Stein Mart stores offer the fashion merchandise, service and presentation of a better department or specialty store, at prices up to 60 percent off department and specialty store prices, every day. It is a very good news for all of us that, Stein Mart is expanding its business in seven places.

Thanks and Regards,
Steve Witt
