Mr. Hallmark is a good teacher. He even offered to help students that weren't in his class. I hate that he may retire, but I don't blame him. All of the good teachers are just trying to survive or looking for a way out of Haileyville and away from Caughern.
I don't know how the teaching and coaching will balance with the new teacher. We need teachers worse than we need coaches. Sports are the priority at Haileyville, so I guess we will see. I am still trying to decide on whether to take my kids somewhere else.
Sports are not the priority at Haileyville,my daughter missed a whole year of softball because Mrs.Cabe.I do believe academics come first but my daughter is well rounded and does all sports including straight A's.I hope we don't lose Mr. Hallmark at least all my kids have had him or have him.He is a great teacher.

I have to disagree. Caughern spent more money on sports than just about anything else.$90,000 for an activity bus, nearly half a million for a football fieldhouse. The teams get new uniforms pretty often. The coaches get just about anything that they ask for.

The school has an unusual amount of coaches for such a small school. The state tests that the school does in the spring were interrupted for sports events.

Meanwhile, several teachers were complaining that they couldn't get the books or supplies that they needed for class. Kids are allowed to skip class to attend ballgames or to go to their little brother or sister's ballgames. To me, that says that sports is the priority at Haileyville.

The sad thing is that the teams don't win very often if ever. I will agree though that I hope that Mr. Hallmark stays. Caughern and his friends need to go.

Yea exactly the boys got all this if you would take time to look at our girls sports,They don't get crap.Meanwhile the boys have 3 football coaches we just now got a softball coach.Mrs. Cabe was suppose to last year and we got 3 games all year. Our softball girls never steeped foot on that activity bus.We also just had a meeting last night about having to pay for our softball uniforms because the school said we have no money and no body can find last years. So when you examine the sports you need to look at the girls. It was one of our softball dads and the coaches husband that had to use their own equipment to fix our softball field, meanwhile the boys baseball and football field gets maintained daily. This is a title 5 school which means the girls are suppose to have equal games, money, equipment and transportation.and they don't so please look at both sides because one side gets nothing.

Sorry about that. You are absolutely right. All we see and hear about is the boys. The girls are forgotten.

Makes you wonder where the money went doesn't it? Caughern has thrown money at the boys' sports to satisfy some people and to line his own pockets.

Thank you for taking a honest look.I get so upset because my daughter has straight A's but yet still plays every sport they offer and they just don't care about the girls sports and the boys have more coaches, equipment, ect. than they know what to do with, yet they still get more stuff every year.I hope things change for this school and we get Caughern the hell out of there.

You know why the football and baseball field looks the way it does you have a coach that cares the way it looks and takes care of it himself and he too has to borrow equipment to maintain it and for the girls softball my understanding there was not enough girls interested in playing. Maybe you need to get your fax straight

Yea maybe high school not Jr. High because the 4 games that we did play we had 4 on the bench, that means we had enough. And now that Mrs Cabe is no longer the coach we actually are having practices almost everyday and we played our summer league. And we have plenty of players for high school and Jr.High .And as far as the boys fields looking good because of the coach,he is not just the coach ,he is suppose to be the athletic director which means for all the sports, not just the boys. And our field got ruined by some idiot dumping big pieces of cement on our field. My Daughter has been in just about everything that school has to offer, which isn't much..Was your daughter on the softball team, well mine was,so I think I know how many we had.The only times we might of been short handed is when a few of the girls couldn't keep their grades up.

That poor school will continue to go down hill until everyone gets together and kicks Caughern and all of his little friends out on their butts.

It's about time to file for the next school board election. Now is the time to think about replacing one of Caughern's little friends with someone decent.

Jared Hauff has been on the board too long and needs to go home. Caughern needs to go home this year also!

You would think that by now, everyone in Haileyville would be tired of their school being the sad joke that Caughern has made it.

Instead, no one ran against Jared Hauff and now the school is stuck with him on the school board for another 5 years or until the school is bankrupt (whichever comes first).

I guess that maybe there's hope that Battles will be defeated next year. I wonder what it's going to take for the school board to grow a spine and get rid of Caughern?

Some (if not all) of their coaches needed to go. Right now, they need more teachers than they do coaches.

Before you can improve their winning season, you first have to have a winning season. Now that Caughern and some of his buddies are gone, the school can hopefully recover and return to being a great school like it was before.

Tell us more about this.

Everything about the Caugherns is fishy. I just hope that they and all of their friends stay far away from Haileyville!

I'm a parent from a diffent school, but I felt if I was a parent from Haileyville I would want to know this. I was at Haileyville school a couple days ago and witnessed a coach of ya'lls talking very disruptive to some young boys. It had to do something with them quiting his team after they ordered ball shoes. This coach was very upset he told the hand full of boys that was seating there that who ever ordered ball shoes and quit his team better have the balls to come and tell him to his face why they quit and went on to say that in 2 weeks when his team started winning they would not be allowed to play for him. This coach was way out of line talking to the young boys the way he did. Like I said I have no kids in your school, but I can tell you if it would have been my kid I would have went down there on him. He is a coach and should be setting and good example. I do not know this mans name. He is a big tall balled headed guy and they way I took it he probably coachs the 6th or 7th grade boys.

So he said in 2 weeks, his team would start winning? Have you seen their football record this year? Yeah, let us know when you start winning!

Aug. 31 @ Summit Christian School L 8-41
Sep. 7 Pocola L 0-49
Sep. 21 @ Canadian L 14-38
Sep. 27 Savanna L 0-52
Oct. 5 @ Warner L 0-54
Oct. 12 Central Sallisaw L 0-39
Oct. 18 @ Talihina L 0-56
Oct. 26 Gore L 0-79
Nov. 2 @ Quinton 0-0

I don't know which coach this is by your description, but I know that none of my kids wanted to play sports at Haileyville because of how the coaches acted. It's sad that they have probably lost a lot of good players because of their coaches.

Nov. 2 @ Quinton L 0-55

Yeah, Haileyville....Winning!

Sadly, a lot of younger kids who are treated this way by the coaches will not ever want to play again when they get older. They need their coaches to encourage them and inspire a love of the game in them!

It's going to take some time for Haileyville. They are still trying to dig out from under the Caughern mess of the last 5 years. They can't afford any decent coaches right now.

Daily Horoscope for May 21

Scorpio

It's a frustrating and rather disappointing day because you have to cope with delays and setbacks to your plans. A travel arrangement may have to be postponed or there could be a hitch about something connected with education. You're also feeling subdued and tired, and you're longing to spend some time on your own although this may not be possible. Don't worry, this difficult mood will soon blow over.
