Wonderful news!! Belmont is going to have an Italian Restaurant where the Second Fiddle is now. Starting from scratch in that building is going to be a costly proposition. On the other hand it will be new & clean. Anything new in this town tends to make the natives restless so please try to keep this thread positive. Any updates will be welcome.

Glad to see the revitalization of downtown continue.

An Italian restaurant is a good addition to the current selection.

Hope they do well!

Heard its going to be like the Open Kitchen. Hope the food is decent and not like sauce from a can. The Olive Garden is played out.

Italian is great news! Now the LaVecchias will have a place to have all of their family gatherings. Who is gonna do the cooking? I heard all the kids are chefs. Ciao bella !!!

Your smarmy quip about the " natives"is uncalled for and reinforces the stereotype that would make one react just as you said. That's the very thing that makes them wary! Time will tell about the restaurant...but it profits the L's - I won't walk through the door. They have ruined Belmont. EVERYBODY like s a good restaurant - but no thanks.

I've only been to an Open Kitchen once. It was OK, but rather bland, IMHO.

Would prefer something like Portofinos myself.

They say that its going to be an open kitchen style restaurant where the diners can see the kitchen staff and it will have an open hearth for pizzas and other Italian dishes. If its a L restaurant Im sure it will be done right. But with all the hater-ades in this town, i would have chosen to keep the owners under wraps. IMHO

The only crap is your pompous attitude. You don't control the conversation in a public forum - sorry.

Wood fired pizzas?

Now you're talking!

Say what you want about the L's, they know how to run restaurants.

Some people rush to a new restaurant to try it out. I give it a couple months after it opens to try it, so they can get the kinks out.

exactly the reason why we love Malcolm. A great voice of reason and objectivity. Too bad the trolls on this forum don't learn from those like him and keep this forum informative and helpful to those of us who actually want information

Explain it to me. The L's sold Second Fiddle and now they are opening an Italian Restaurant in the space they sold? What have I missed?

they are moving the second fiddle business to the other store at Piccolo so they can make that space into a restaurant. They are probably opening the restaurant under an LLC so they can operate under the radar and not be subject to the Belmont Brooders Club. Cant blame them. It'll kick ass anyway no matter whose name its in. We need some variety downtown

The L's have sold the building. Don't believe they're involved in the successor business. Very easy to verify.

I just hope it's not going to be an overpriced pretentious pizza parlor.

Every restaurant the L's have opened has been a colossal disappointment. I'm sorry I don't have a dog in the fight with the L's but their restaurants have been very poor and provide very little value for the dining public.
