It's a shame what they have done to these girls. Just slapped them in the face. They are killing the confidence of the upper class men. they hold the eight graders over their heads. causing them to play as if they are looking over their shoulders. 1 mistake and they are out and 8th is in to make mistake after mistake - the girls are plainly treated differently by the coaches! There will be others that quit and that's okay with Coach Butler and Piper - no matter how hard some have worked and deserve to be there. I refuse to put Coach in front of her name. She is not a coach. The Butlers call the games. Even Jerry from the side lines. He evens sends in plays by his phone. It is a complete joke. I'm glad mine is out!

Isn't it all Butler's fault? I though Piper was head coach. But, it's not all the coaches faults. What about all the bitchy parents. There is more drama there. If people would quit with all the drama things would prob be different.

Ive seen this scenario a hundred times and this is exactly what is happening; The coaches have made a decision to do everything they can to prep this 8th grade group to be "the group" to be successful in the future. Genius i know. Here's my point: what you are seeing with older players quitting and being disgruntled is just the beginning. Trust me, the coaches ultimately don't care one bit about the girls quitting. The way they see it, as long as this 8th grade group of girls brings them a district and regional championship, then it will have all been worth it, regardless if the current group of upperclassmen can do anything or not.

And thats the point, is that these upperclassmen will never realize their true potential because unfortunately they will never get the chance. And while the coaches may catch some flak right now for these "hard decisions" they figure its just a small sacrifice to pay in order to get these 8th grade girls a ton of experience. This is actually quite common practice at many places and programs. You just have to hope that your girl is with a group of "chosen ones" or else her class may just be the one that is sacrificed for the younger group coming up.

Its awful for the older group i know, but in a coach's mind if an 8th grade girl is just as good or close to just as good as an upperclassmen then they are going to play the 8th grade girl because she won't do any worse, and will have benefit in the future from the experience. I am in agreeance that there should be some level of reward to seniority and to the upperclassmen that has stuck with it and worked hard.

Thats the tragedy really, is that some of these upperclassmen have been through some tough times at MCHS and stuck with the program through coaching changes etc. Coach Lindsey waltzes in here fresh from her little "secret sex scandal" at HCHS and could care less about these upperclassmen.

I dnt have a dog in this fight but seniority has nothing to do with highschool sports. The best players who work the hardest who give the team the best chance to win are the ones who should play. Some kids have to work harder than others to improve. Some have to work more but being an upperclassman should have nothing to do with playing time.

When my kid complains about playing time I tell him to practice and give your coach no choice but to play you. If you work hard and your doing a good job the coach will eventually have to put you in. As a coach I know the first 3 players are easy to choose. It's 4 and 5 that are tough so my advice is to practice and put yourself in the top 3.
I think that's the problem with America. Everything is not fair no matter what you been told. Talent is not distributed evenly. Neither is ambition. It's up to you as an individual to improve. If I had a 3rd grader who outplayed or was better than a senior then that's who I would play.

Right on to the post by Agree! Frick and Frack run that bandwagon. Coach better watch out, they'll get her fired just like they got the last one fired. She's so naive she wouldn't even see it coming. Maybe she flirts with both of them jsut enough to keep them in her back pocket.

What in the world? This sounds like trash gossip. You guys need to focus on encouraging your girls to keep on improving, to go with what works each game according to statistics and attitude and to support the team. Winning as a team should be the goal. If one player isn't up to par during one game, sub a new girl in. If a girl is performing, keep her in. By high school talent/effort counts more than age. Everybody has an off night, don't whine and bring up dirt.
