I got the e-mail that was sent to parents yesterday. I have to say a couple of things concern me. First, who in the heck did such a bad job working bingo that the school was asked not to return. Secondly, what does the principal mean?...."reason #1 dependency"? Were parents showing up drunk? Or did she mean dependability? If it is the latter, how fortunate are parents who pay thousands of $$$ to a school where the principal doesn't know the difference between the meanings of the two words.
How can you promote a school, try to recruit students and use academics as a reason why people should pay to send their kids there when the principal needs a vobcaulary lesson? When was the last time they won an academic competition? Seriously, is this school worth the money?
Students always compete well at academic competitions. Elementary students and middle school both defeated the county school at governor's Cup last year So I'm not sure where that is coming from. Also how is it that a senior class of often less than 30 continuously is offered more scholarships than all the county schools?

Wow, you are a true grammar nazi. Have you never commited a typo in your life? Is the principle an englich lit proffesor? The majority of your thread is based on one typo, if that's the case you are an idiot because you didn't proof read it and you made the same exact mistake the principle did. At least he used a real word, you just made one up, vobcaulary. Maybe you two should pool your resources and attend the vocabulary lessons together.

Why are you so pissed off over one typo?

This can be categorized in the "Epic Fail" file.

The big deal is the loss of money earned for the school. I worked it everytime one month last year when it was my childs classes turn. I was not easy but you are there to work for the money they would donate to the school. I went directly from work and more than once I was the only parent from St. Pat to arrive and I was 1/2 later than they wanted due to work. One of the last meetings I attended at St Pat and all the new parents felt left out and wanted to be involved and be in charge. See what happens when you put new people in charge that have no other tie to the school or church other than the few months that they have been around. I had 17 years invested and I still was rarely in charge of anything.

I read the first post and I could tell the poster meant "vocabulary". The typo clearly did not seem like a made up word to me, I didn't even catch the mistake the first time I read it. Clearly the poster meant "vocabulary" as opposed to "vocally" or a word with similar spelling but a completely different meaning. The mistake on the bingo e-mail does not seem to be a typo. It was a totally different word with a different meaning. Just my observation, though. I also didn't feel like the majority of the post was about the principal's mis-use of a word.
Maybe "lolwut" was trying to be sarcastic with their own misspellings, but then again maybe so was "smh". Who knows? If one typo makes someone an idiot, what does that make "lolwut"?

We are ALL capable of making mistakes/typos when writing an email(especially when emotions are involved) and the funny thing is that the principal was QUOTING the letter from the VFW, as to NOT make an error or to misquote the letter in any way. Think about it, geeez who cares it's over, move on. BIG DEAL! I am sure that those of us that care about St.Pats will help come up with new ways to make the money we will no longer receieve from Bingo money. Really when it comes down to it that was our money to begin with since the majority of people playing bingo at the VFW are using government money to play aka as our tax dollars.

First of all I dont think it was the VFW that sent the letter, it was AMVET's organization, so please get your story correct. Secondly I think it is a big deal the letter stated concerns over dependability, money accountability, and attitude. This says alot about the parents, and administration. It seems to me to be very serios situation. Possibly money not being accounted for leads me to believe someone was not honest and maybe stole some money. The other concerns the AMVETS had don't suprise me, I am sure that some of the parents that did show up felt like everyone there playing bingo was beneath them.

I spent 12 yrs at St Pat and feel like I got a good education.. Now it's time for me to send my kid to school but from what I've heard about the school now days, No Way!!! Too many problems and it went from having 1 or 2 families who thought they were better and trying to run the school to several families who feel like they are elite. Not to mention the negative publicity I've read about on the sports field.. If we got into a brawl at a sports game sister patricia jean and father Paul would've busted our asses!!!!! Bring father Paul back of you want that school back in order. He actually cared about the students and he took no shit!!!

You prove the point of my post which you cleary did not comprehend. I wasn't criticizing you for mispelling I was actually making fun of you because the majority of your post was criticizing the principal for apparently mispelling a word. You did the samething, turn a bout is only fair.

So now you have 2 EPIC Fail posts.
1. For making fun of someone for doing the samething you did.
2. For trying to turn it on me when you totally missed the whole point of my post.

Ok, I also clearly could tell that the poster meant vocabulary as well. If you take out the first 3 lines of his post the rest of it talks about the principal using the wrong word and how could parents spend thousands of dollars sending their kids there etc etc etc. His post is more than 6 lines long so more than half of his post is talking about the principal's vocabulary, more than half equals majority.

My post wasn't about someone making a spelling error, I could careless. I do find it amusing when someone makes a post about someone making grammar errors when their post bashing said person contains grammar errors. The whole "Pot meet Kettle" saying. My post was more making fun of someone making fun of someone with grammar errors.

Now if this is an english lit thread I may correct someone for grammar errors since it's kind required but since this is just some anonymous forum with a bunch of smash talking spelling or vocabulary isn't really a requirement.

@FYI lolwut - I do have to take back a couple of these comments because while I was trolling I was also on the phone and thought you were the original poster.

The point still remains the same, you still didn't get the point of my post. I wasn't making fun of someone for spelling errors. I was making fun of someone that was making fun of someone for grammar erros when they did the same thing.

So your post is still an Epic Fail just for different reasons. You missed the whole point of my post. Please try harder next time.

I worked bingo several times at the AMVETS and no it was no picnic but then again its called work.

I truly believe the letter that was sent concerning workers attitudes. The ones I worked with acted like they were afraid to talk to or anything with the bingo players they acted like they were better than them.

But the one thing that really bothers me is the question of money being accounted for. What a shame that you cant trust parents especially from a religious organization to be honest, but stealing wow.

None of the above actions seem very Christon like.

The diocese must be very proud. Now what will they do for money, raise tuition, cut programs, sports, lay-off teachers or staff? I will have to come from somewhere.

Im sorry but have you worked the bingo??? I in no way had an attitude, had money issues and was actually early for my shift. So if you haven't then I suggest that you move on to another topic in which you have some actual experience. As far as the Amvets vs VFW naming of the hall geeez shoot me as I don't hang out there. I never felt like anyone there was beneth, AT ALL. But I do not like to see people spend their last dime on the hope of a BIG WIN. It's sad to watch and if you haven't sold them the pull tabs and seen the anxious behavior and fear of losing then you cannot comment.

Well actually yes I did. I worked every night the month it was my childs class' turn because not enough people would sign up to work. And naming the hall is not the difference it is actually two very seperate groups and should not be confused.

I don't think anyone out there needs to ask your permission on how they spend their money. Maybe thats the only recreation they have. Im sure most dont belong to the country club or get to go to DeSha's, or Hilton Head Island or wherever you as a snob hang out. I am sure some are on goverment assistance but I know several people that played bingo while i worked have very good jobs. I am sure they appreciate you stereotyping them. One in particular is a business owner. I wonder if your comments about those nice people will affect there donations or support at the fall festival. Keep running your mouth I am sure you can help loose more money for the school, since you are proably one of the people that the AMVETS are complaining about.

As parent from a neighboring county, I laughed when I read this post. Before I go on (because I know you Shamrocks will say I'm lying) anyone can to to kaac.com and check my facts. Click on governor's cup results, then click on Mason County on the state map. From there you can look at the District, Regional and State results for the schools.

The truth is St. Patrick finishes dead last.
District:
Elementary Final Standings: Fleming 45.5, Tollesboro 35.5, Mason County 29.5 and St. Patrick 12.5
Middle School Final Standings: Lewis Co. 51.5, Mason Co. 35, Simons 21.5, St. Patrick 16
High School Final Standings: Mason Co. 51, Lewis Co. 33.5, St. Patrick 29.5

Regional:
Elementary: no scores yet
Middle: 5 way tie for last place with 0 points
High School: 7th place out of 14 with 6 points.

Notice the downhill trend. And all these other schools are free!
