Yes, its Piper Akin. From Harrison County. She doesnt have a winning season, dont understand why she got the job except for the fact that she lost her coaching job because she was sleeping with the Football coach. She will fit right in at Mason County. Another bad season for the Lady Royals! What a good mentor to look up to!

Give this chick a break, she did go 17-14 and she won a district title, which is a step up from what the county did this past year. I doubt the above reasons are why she is leaving Harrison County. Let's get behind her instead of dooming her from the start. Somebody needs to clean up the mess that Butcher made. Good Luck Piper Akin!

It doesn't help that you all think we are going to fail before gym doors even open. It's hard to surpass expectations when there are none. No matter of what morals she is, that doesnt reflect on her coaching ability and I'd appreciate it of you would support us instead of write us off. I know we have had a bad coaching streak but I don't think the coach is the only thing wrong with the girls team. It might just be you guys. Sorry to vent but there's nothing smash talking will do at this point, we will have to respect her reguardless and it might help if you all set a good example too. Thanks.

I agree, I have a young daughter currently coming up in the ball circuit and I am thrilled. I am happy to have someone with such great experience as a player. I hope she instills hard work and dedication into our program and finds a home here in Mason County. Rather or not she was anyone's first pick she is here and stand behind her and her team is what I plan to do. ON A MISSION FOR TRADITION!!!

Just another one that can be twisted and manipulated into what they want! There is not one person over there that gives a crap about the girls program. There was two good people deserving of that coaching position that is involved with our youths coming up. But they didn't want to give it to them because they might make it a good program and that might take away some of the boys lime light!!! Sad and pathetic if you ask me! I'm a stronge supporter of our girls and I hope the new coach works out. But, I'm sure she's already been filled in on how it's gonna work! It's past time to get the old ones out and bring new ones in!

I was out and about tonight and ran into a couple girls parents and they are less than excited.
Did the hiring committee contain any parents of current of future Lady Royals.
Will this cause any of them to not play or maybe even transfer.

She had better get in there and prove it! Cause they passed up on one that would have taken them to state multiple times. I'M sad! I know that guy would have put together a program with respect and with the Royal spirit that he has shown all his Mason County Royal life. I bet he could name players currently playing from second grade to senior and already know their strong holds. With that being said I hope this lady gives her time to all levels of the girls basketball.

There is no reason why the girls shouldn't go to state with the talent that is coming up! And if u are talking about the same man I am u are absolutely correct in him being the one to lead them. He has the knowledge and the ambition and drive it's gonna take to get them there. I think once again the athletic director and princpal have let our girls down by bringing in someone from the outside when there is a man that is a life long Royal that was qualified for the position. I wish they could have takin a parents poll. I think it would have came out alot differently.

If the lady royal could get the support and the confidence they deserve they would be a great team. Come on people give them what they need. We have a great group of girls and they want it as much as the next person. Give this new coach a chance and support her, yes we all know who we wanted as the coach but we can only hope he will stay with us. So go Lady Royals!!

I am from Harrison Co. I am not jumping on the Piper Akin ban wagon and defending anyone, but try not to "judge the book by it's cover" if you know what I mean. Piper is a good person and in a little town like ours rumors fly. I'm not saying she did or didn't do anything wrong, people get things twisted around sometimes. She has been very, very good to my daughter and I respect her for that. She should be given a chance before you put her down. I know my child is really sad to see her leave. As far as our girls basketball team having a losing season, they did alot better than expected. You could tell the girls listened to her and did what she said, and had fun. Remember it's for the kids and if they have fun doing what their doing then winning isn't everything. I believe if you all give her a chance you'll do great. Good Luck!

Why should the parents have any say on who is hired? That is the problem when parents think they can tell a coach how to play their child.

Truth be told, You should support the girls nomatter who the coach is! I agree, you will hear nothing but rumors here! Let her actions on the court prove her to us.. I Agree Rabbit woulda been a great coach for the high school, but remeber he is still a great coach now seeding the future of the program! But give props to Poe and Farris as well, The current 5th and 6th grade girls are a force to be reconed with. As well as the current High School talent the Lady Royals Should've done better this past year but with their hands tied there was only so much they could do! Give her a chance, May be the best thing thats happened to us in years!!! Go Lady ROYALS!!!!!
