if your referring to the person replying to my posting above don't worry about it. I'm not now nor ever been in "the welfare line" & we can all see that they are just a hypocrite behind A screen complaining about our school districts advantage over another. That's why I'm not concerned about dignifying with a response to them. I agree with u on your postings about the advantages this generation has now. I wish we had this technology available 15 years ago when I was in school.

Eric,

Conservatism is an EGO driven ideaology.. so therefor, they arent allowed to be wrong.. about anything... so that means youre just a big poopy head who takes free handouts.. and hes taking his ball and going home.

Just a bunch of lil babies.

Republicans have been trying to destroy SS and other social safety nets since they were created. its nothing new. ironically, around here, alot of republican supports are on welfare. go for a drive in aberdeen sometime during the month before the election.

These programs were never designed to be lifelong (unless disabled or you have another reason you are physically/mentally unable to work)... but to pretend that people who take the assistance must just be lazy is...well.. just stupid.. and says alot about your ability to use reason and comprehend things.

I dunno if you hadnt noticed, but there arent a whole lot of jobs around to be had. You want to come tell my Step Dad whos worked all his life, got laid off a year ago, that hes too lazy to work ? that he doesnt deserve what hes put into all these years?

Get a grip. U guys just hate yourselves so much you want to blame it on other people. babies.

My only concern is what about the kids whose parents can't afford these? I know one family in particular that has been thrown into poverty this year through no fault of their own and are in a desperate situation. They simply cannot afford this nor that long list of items the school wants you to purchase. What do these parents and kids do?

Free lunch and free iPads. That's what we need to teach the kids. Everything in life is free. Don't work for anything just let someone hand it to you. Idiots
Blame it on the Democrats and their Socialist agenda.$800,000 would be a tidy sum spent here in Mason Co. and not spent on some Chinese made electronics.

lunch is only free if your income is to low to pay in fact since your making the complaint that lunch is free As the iPads are gives me the impression your kid is on a free lunch plan so that means part of the taxes I pay supply that along with everyone else. YOUR WELCOME.
Actually Mason County got another "grant" to them this year that the elementary schools are all getting free breakfast and lunch no matter what their income is.

So worried about MC students getting a great learning, but you are completely cool with Mitt ( tax evasion ) Romney hiding his money and jerking around the tax code...He finally admitted he only payed 13%....That's less percent than you or I....Also, that total probably doesn't even cover the so called cash gift and donations which deplete his overall income...It's a joke !...Rich today like to csll it money sheltering, but really it's tax evasion...Just ask Al Capone !...He'll tell ya ;)

Yeah but 14% of $42 MILLION is a lot more than 16-18% of $30,000. So Mitt payed lots more taxes like $6 Million more than Joe Blow.

Meanwhile your buddy Obama is working toward tripling the national debt. It took him 3 years to double it from $7 Trillion to $14 Trillion. It don't take a genius to figure out his real goal is to bankrupt America. Look at the former USSR. They didn't decide one day that Communism was bad, they went broke. I think it had something to do with a little war they were involved with in some place called AFGHANISTAN.

Yesterday my girls came home from school, they said as they were trying to download apps at school, Apple actually shut them down, because they thought they were being hacked. WTH, with 800 kids trying to log on what did they expect. They had issues today also. I think all of this stuff should have already been loaded to them, so the kids do not have to waste learning time trying to download apps. New technology is great only if it works. As for free lunch, if your child is at Straub or MCIS, doesn't matter if you make $100,000 yr your child will still receive free lunch. I also think if I must pay for the fees involved for my children(2) to receive the iPads, then no other supplies should be expected, but that wasn't the case. I bought the normal paper, pencils, folders, then the 1st day home it was binders, dividers, bought those today, 2nd day home I have another list, when does it end?

like I said above I DON'T CARE MY CHILD GETS A GOOD EDUCATION SOME OTHER DISTRICTS DON'T I'm not going to complain about that. And even if they didn't have the iPads the taxes would still most Likely be the same as they are now so why gripe about about the education system here. At least it's not like Fleming county's. These iPads didn't cost a dime other than the money for the apps & insurance it was supplied by a grant. GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT FIRST.
Since when has the inclusion of iPads automatically equated to "good education"? If the teachers lack, the education they provide will lack. I'm not saying that the Mason County teachers lack; I'm saying that additional technology does not necessarily translate to improved quality. Books and effort have been getting the job done, for years.

Consider this, though: Bulk distribution of e-applications could mean that the board and school system(or the state) won't be shelling out hundreds of thousands of dollars, per year, for textbooks which cost $20-$35 per, AFTER discounts. Then again, they run the risks of the actual downloads, their individual costs,(though I'm sure they're discounted) and fall completely into the category of those too dependent of technology. Honestly, if they're not using the iPads to replace some of the costs associated with textbooks(the books, themselves), what exactly are they purchasing them for? To be cool?

If you're referring to me with your opening statement, I apologize for you inability to interpret my post. I thought that I was being neutral with my argument, but I suppose I veiled it too heavily. My point was to state that iPads don't bring about a better education, themselves; and that they're really not necessary to HAVE one. I went on to state that this technology might decrease costs, in the future, and to speculate why they're needed, if not to reduce the cost of textbooks. That's all. I don't disagree with the Romney bit, however.

@eric24,what is your problem with republican? now that we the taxpayers are paying for ipads. i pay taxes in mason county. just wondering why all the schools in the county dont get the same entitlements as mason county. this school has been waisting taxpayers money for years. if a teacher retires from the school system, he or she can go back and sub teach.that takes away jobs from students who have gone to college and are looking for a job. this is wrong.

I love when people use phrases like "grants" and "free lunches." Where do you think this money comes from?

Someone on here suggested a way that money should be spent. Here's an ideal, have the school board think of constructive ways to save money, give the taxpayer a break. I wish the taxpayers had a say on how the school spends money, but we don't. If the school board says they need more money then they just raise our taxes. We have no say in the matter.

I hate replying to your postings because your such a thick headed prick but here's a simple answer to your post it's called getting involved with your community. Go to your local meetings let the county's officials know your thoughts & suggestions on the matters that concern you the most & sound off on them. GET OFF YOUR ASS AWAY FROM YOUR COMPUTER & GET INVOLVED! If your not actually doing that then please SHUT UP. You have yet been able to give 1 real valid statement here in my opinion.

Daily Horoscope for May 22

Scorpio

Don't believe everything you see today and your memory could be playing tricks on you, too. You might remember things in a distorted or false way, through no fault of your own. You may also be reading too much into the situations that are going on around you, making it hard for you to know what's really happening. Try not to make any big decisions today because you simply aren't thinking straight.
