Hit a nerve did I? Sounds to me like someone's cranky and irritable that they can't con any more drs into giving them drugs. Seriously, those that really need meds are given them. Those that complain, are just drug seeking. Lol. Don't get mad at anyone else bc you started your own addiction, either get yourself out of it or die, I could care less. Just don't sit on the Internet and whine and you better not steal my hard earned tax dollars on welfare or trying to con some stupid ER dr.

You have to remember that our Governor (is) was a doctor, with a little pen stroke a few years ago he made every coal miner in Ky. take a piss test and pay for it out of there own pockets. I would like to have a piece of that action.
They let Fla. hand out a lot of pills for so long, so they could find out who to bust.
Why do the they think more laws will help, when they set up the first laws?
I get headaches, I have gotten them since I was a teenager, All I ask for is twenty Vicodon a year to keep from having to go to the ER, and believe me I will go to the ER and then they shoot me up with something and I can't even remember my name and have to have someone drive me home and pay for the ER visit, since my deductible is four thousand dollars a year.
I am now looking for a new doctor, my old one got married and moved to Cal. The doctor I had before in Maysville told me to stop by and see him if I have a headache, so I thought I was in luck one day when I started getting one, because it was a half hour before he closed, but the receptionist refused to let me see him. I told her I was going to the ER and would never be back.

So if any of ya'll know a good family doctor ( I have two boys also ) that are accepting patients let me know.

People fail to realize, pain meds are for short term relief, not chronic pain. Go get it fixed and quit relying on band aids fool. If not then your a drug seeker or your stealing from your 80 yr old mom or whatever.

What are you suppose to do if you have chronic pain and the only thing that can be done is to maintain the pain. Because you have had three back surgeries and the nerve damage can not be fixed. There are times when a person legitimately needs pain meds. They are not seekin them for personal pleasure or a high but they need them so that they are able to function and live a decent life without the unbearable pain. So you really shouldn't be so quick to judge those who take pills. We are not all pill heads

Sooner or later surgeons will tell you there is modern techniques to eleviate pain, how much to do you exercise a day? How much do you get out of the house? How much do you weigh, smoke, control your own life? You are seeking the wrong cure all if you want to depend on pain medications, it is always temperary. There is nurologist that can give you injections instead of pain pills, there is acupuncture as well. Surgeons are send their patients to therapy of the mind over the matter. If you sit around all day thinking "I am in pain" the mind will make you in pain. It is a mental issue not the pain. Go see a Psychiatrist if you truely believe you are in pain. Guarantee the psychiatrist can tell if it is real or not.

First I do not sit around thinking I am in pain. I have done the injections, I have tried nerve blocks even have a spinal stimulator implant. The pain is still there. Do I need pain pills everyday? No! However there are times when nothing else helps. I exercise everyday and I am out of the house as often as most people. My weight is undercontrol and I do not smoke or drink. Until u deal with severe pain yourself you should not judge. I have had the latest treatments there are for my back problems and go to a doctor regularly. I pray for alternatives to pain meds everyday. Until u get get your degree as a doctor I suggest u think before judging others. Some people do drugs for the wrong reasons but there are some of us who truly need them to help our medical conditions.

the surgeons are not going to operate on my back because my spinal column is narrow and their afraid of messing up my nerves. You are just another self proclaimed know it all that doesn't know anything.

Just because a person takes pain pills for a chronic pain condition does note an they are an addict or that they should go to NA meetings

My fiancee had sever nerve damage done because of a back injury many years ago. At that time he saw a dr but had no insurance so could not afford the treatments, surgeries, etc that they wanted to do because of his injury. He now has insurance and has had about 4 surgeries on his back in the last year and a half. None helped at all. The injury was too old and the bone had calcified around the nerve damage and ruptured discs and could not be penetrated without further injury. As complicated as this sounds, I have spoken to several people who have this same problem when it comes to seeking a "cure" instead of just treating the symptoms, which is usually just pain and increased immobility as time goes on because of the pain. My fiancee had his first surgery and his second, third and fourth with only the anesthesia. He was prescribed pain medicine after each of course but refused to take even one of the pills. He also refused to take the pills during the last 20 years when he couldnt afford the surgeries. He managed to stay active, although I know he must have suffered horribly, and has now become accustomed to the pain.. He very rarely complains. I cant imagine the pain he feels on a daily basis. But as he tells me, relieving the pain is just not worth getting hooked on the pills. And he WILL get hooked on the pills if he begins to take them. One time of seeing what a good nights sleep is, or seeing what a day without pain is to a man who has suffered from tremendous pain for 2 decades would be enough to make him want to take more and more. And then his body would become dependent just like any other addict. I hate to see him in pain but I understand his rationalization. He has a good, active life and is not willing to give it all up. He has seen addicts, has some in his family. He knows the quality of his life will not improve without the pain if he has to become an addict to control it.. Could I blame him if he decided to take the pain meds? No, just as I can not blame anyone else who has legit pain. But When u go into taking pain meds for an injury that will never be fixed then u know u are going to become and addict. U cant fool urself into thinking u wont. U cant convince anyone that u arent an addict because ur dr prescribes them to u for real pain. No matter how, why, what, when, where u take them, if u take them for even a short period of time u run the risk of becoming addicted. Ur body depends on the pills and has to have them or will withdrawal. That is an addict. Even if the dr gave them to u.. I like to think id be as strong as he is if I was ever in that position but I dont believe I would be. I can see both points of view, but I know theres another way if u really dont want to be hooked on pills. I see this man do it every day without so much as a whimper.

Let me explain something to you, as for your condition it may be time you see a nuerosurgeon that can help you instead of going for pain medications. I have had 3 disc completely removed in my lower back, and 3 completely removed in my neck. I have epilepsy and a heart condition. I am 55 years old and still work part time. I DO NOT TAKE PAIN MEDICATION, Nor do I take any prescription medications. I had taken seizure medications for 30 years, those being tegrotol and trileptol. What I have found over the years is to CONTROL MY HEALTH ISSUES with Proper eating habits, sleeping habits and positive attitude on how to control my pain. There is not a day that my back may hurt or the pain in my neck and arm may give me trouble, BUT I find things to do to in my day to keep the mind busy to not think about what ails me. I plan to live drug free and health for as long as the Good Lord gives me air to breath. From the time I had the neck and back surgery, I NEVER took pain medications. I refused due to the fact of knowing so many people use it as a crutch over time. This country has gone to the dogs with over medicating themselves to the point they can't face reality. Here is a remedy for you....take an apsrin a day, keep the doctor away. Keep your body moving, that means walk, jog run or ride a bike ( I go walking or hiking each day, I ride a bicycle). Get a PET, a dog is something YOU will have to take care of each day and a great companion to go walking with you. Put your mind on other things..read, sew, bowling, basketball, join a gym. When I feel pain I go shoot hoops, go to the ymca to relax in a hot tub and go swimming. I was a welder for 20 years, I did many hard physical jobs thruout my lifetime. I AM A FEMALE. If you don't get moving and working your mind and body, you will lose it. There is people that do need medications, and those people are in far worse shape then you phycially and mentally. The biggest problem you have is with YOURSELF, and trust me PAIN MEDICATIONS will not fix your mental health outlook on LIVING LIFE.
If you got pain then use your medical card and go find a doctor that can help you, which frankly a Psychiatrist may be the best option. REALIZE getting OLD is the last option before death, make the last breath you take more then just sitting around thinking of pain and needing a man made drug. My own motto: God don't make junk, people just like to wallow in it.

I can relate to those who suffer from debilitating pain and also with those who say that they do not want to take pain meds for fear of becoming an addict. Not a day goes by that I am not in severe pain in my back and legs and feet. I do not dwell on it and I do my best to live a full life. However I do have to take pain pills somedays. I don't take them everyday or even every week but sometimes there is nothing else that helps. I try to stay busy, use the spinal stimulator I had implant and just Thank God for all he does
