Well, here we are again, new cop back on the streets from the academy. Glad to see he made it through the academy without his "hothead" getting him booted. What happened to Baker retiring in October, like he implied? The board even backed this implication. Yet, he's still here. Foolishly spending money and running the budget wild as though it's his own pocket. The vehicles are falling apart, but the green hummer and little red truck seem to run ok. Even a couple of the newest reserve officers hired this fall came to me with baffling information, of poor training, and no direction, hoping for new leadership, fresh eyes on the situation. With Bertrand back from the academy and on the streets again. Even after starting out on the streets before he even passed pre-basic. Illegally operating a patrol car in the process all because they were "short-handed" on manpower. Henry County Sheriffs dept even hesitates to help KPD depending on whos working. A high ranking deputy directly told me this. There's only a couple part time and one reserve he said that he will voluntarily stroll through knightstown and patrol with. He said, "unless they are working, or i am NEEDED i stay out of knighstown". That's a shame. The "re-hiring" of Jeremiah MacEntire after his forced resignation a little over a year ago. What's changed? Why force a guy to quit, only to re-hire him later? Then he's running around without shaving and looking unprofessional. I just don't understand. I would love to see this department excel, but they seem to be taking steps back. Why? Hopefully sometime in the very near future things will change for this little town.

I live in Carthage and have a friend on KPD, that has been in law enforcement for 18 years. He works part time, anyhow, he said it's a shame how KPD has turned out. He said similar things about certain people who work there. From dispatcher/officer relationships and the mistake the chief made by hiring Jeremiah back. I use to be friends with him and ill just say, that he should have counted his losses and moved on. He tainted his reputation at knightstown. All coming back is going to do is make it even worse. I love knightstown and am planning on moving back in the spring. I really hope things get better. i strongly believe with the right leadership the KPD will get much better. they just need better direction than what they are getting.
