"I do agree with you about voter apathy being part of the issue. Approximately 70 to 75% of our voters don't vote for reasons that are unexcusable. Part of it is the lack of understanding of the processes--thinking machines can be rigged, etc. And some of their concerns are valid in respect to conflicts of interest with certain political entities being selected to work our polls. I do not buy that non-political people can't be brought into the polls and paid the generous $150 for the day. This is the reason being given, but there are many people who would work the polls especially in the current economy. Why do we select former elected officials and allow people to hang out around our polls with clear political leanings? There were many people who felt coerced and pressured due to who was working the elections. This is wrong. The state will do very little to correct it--their only answer was "better training". But nothing that would hold anyone accountable for what just took place here in Union County."

This is a great comment. We should absolutely take a close look at this. Good call.

Bonnie the only bully squad on this thread is you. Instead of answering my questions, YOU have deflected. Congratulations on becoming that which you have said you would fight against.

You pull the, "stick and stones" theme in an attempt to show victimization and gain sympathy. At no point did I call you a name. At no point did I personally attack you.

Deflection. Ad hominem tactics. You'd make a great politician.

Free Speech, I have read the first amendment, thank you. Of course she and any other citizens have the right to question. However, I question her motivation and her agenda. I believe there is an ulterior motive on her part.
I am looking forward to facts being presented and truth coming to light. Let's all have a look the numbers. Let's have a frank, honest, and mature discussion about the obstacles that we face and how we can overcome them. How should our county move forward?
It's time to set differences aside. It's time to let bygones be bygones and stop all the pissing contests. It shouldn't be about who has the last laugh.
It should be about what is in the best interest of the citizens of Union County.
I am a TAX payer nothing more, there is no motive. All of this has been printed in the UNL,Halls Shopper, The News Sentinal and probably others. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out something is rotten in Denmark. It should be talked about at every home. If the worst happens the people in this county will pay dearly. It is a fact the the jury is still out on the state level but the test grades do nothing to ensure that the program will be funded for the future. When decisions are made that could affect us all it should be picked apart and brought to the forefront. How are you going to get the numbers when things that are in the past are rearing their ugly heads. That means the people in this county have already been taken advantage of if not lied too. Why do you want to cover it up. I almost forgot yes there is a reason that I am doing this. I filled a complaint with the Sherrif of this town 6.5 months ago and he did not have the decency to even call back. This led me to see who else was being paid by Taxpayer dollars and misleading the citizens. I wanted to find out if the powers that be are for us their employer or outside interests. If you want to blame someone blame the Sherrif for not doing his job and questioning how others do theirs. Why would a TAXPAYER have to have a motive for getting at the truth. Here we go again trying to silence those they can not control. Give you a hint even the hubbie doesn't try to control me he just turns me loose. Better in your butt than his as he always says.

I am not trying to silence you, Bonnie. I am simply asking questions too. Thank you for the background info you provided. That was a decent post.

And no, I am not the lady you think I am. I am sorry to disappoint you on that one. ;)

SORRY SWEET HEART YOU ARE THE BULLY. I asked questions and you went off the deep end. There can be no solutions until everything has been gone thru. But if you want a start quit blaming the kids for not learning. The buck starts with the teachers. If we had the PARENT TRIGGER LAW as in other states we the people could fire the school board, the superintendent and every teacher. Give them a choice go back to teachin or hit the road. Before you start there are graduates that can't find a job that would take these positions, there is also the option for Charter schools. They get much better results for less money. So Manly Candy what are your suggestions? So far not a thing. Besides I am not runnung for any office. It is much better on this side of the isle. I get to see them squirm when asked the tough questions. Quit trying to read more into it. I am a Taxpayer that is tired of the untruths the whole untruths and nothing but the untruths.

I find it laughable that I ask you some questions and you get defensive. You like asking but not answering. You can dish it out, but you can't take it.

The word, "kids" has not been in any of my posts. I don't know where you got that. Your reading comprehension skills are just abysmal.

My posts have not been for me to suggest policy or ideas. I'm trying to get you to enumerate yours. This has been like pulling teeth to say the least. You continue to try to turn it around in the vain hopes that I will fall for your simple tactics.

Here, I'll bite;
Charter schools so far have not shown any more significant gains than public schools, even less so in some cases. Parents firing teachers? I don't know where to begin. "You gave little Johnny a bad grade? You're fired." This probably the worst idea I've ever read on the internet, and that's saying something.

You like playing armchair quarterback? Fine, have fun not getting anything done. Me? I'm going to do what I've been doing for years, going out into the community and making a positive contribution. See you at the meeting?...maybe? hmmm.....

No, love. You don't know who I am.

Peace.

One would think that anyone who would even be associated with a name such as "Manly Candy" would in fact be a man who wishes to be candy for the manly. The name suggest a gay man and not in fact a woman. Not sure that is a person I would even want to argue with Bonnie.

We are definitely in agreement here. You are preaching to the choir.

We agree on this Manly Candy. What could her agenda be? And I asking this question most humbly. Even if a citizen had an agenda in asking a question, perhaps they are merely wanting a different person in office because they believe the person serving is unfit. If that be the case, I also have an agenda because I personally believe many members of these prior school board stood by why Rome burnt? Does that make me a bad citizen or one with an agenda? I think we agree on the unaccountability part here and it is okay for you to also question a person's motives. I simply think we can be more productive by getting this "in-fighting" out of the way and joining together to fight the true enemies who abuse our tax dollars. It sounds like we are after the same objective. Let's just stay the course and fight the common enemy--those who take advantage of the citizens and the act as if they have just crawled out from under a rock as they continue to evade and ignore our quest for accountability.
