does anyone know of homeless people or people in "real" need in maynardville or the surrounding areas. Our church is wanting to get our young people involved in serving the community and we are thinking about a free meal once a month to start with or grocery boxes, stuff like that.

Many, many many families in need. But I want you to know there is a church that judges and puts people down for having a hard time. So I do not believe for one second that you care or are out to help I think you just want to gossip, call their house and then make them cry. You only wantt to bash them on this site when they say they need hel and ask for some direction. Then you get their home phone number and say God led you to help and then take it back because you think you are better than them. People do not fall for it. Some time ago there were mothers on here asking for some advice, direction and looking for hope, and they were bashed, ridiculed and driven away. Open your eyes and look around, this is one of the poorest communities in East Tn, yet if one asks for some help or advice, they are basically stoned with words. God bless you if what you say is true, but I doubt it, I do not believe you are what you say you are, and who you say you are. Once the stove was hot, and the burner may have been turned off, but I still remember the stove was hot so I won't touch it again.

If they wanted to help, why not set up a food bank, or a number to call for food? Some are shut in's and would need food brought to them. I think it should be anonymous and not ask a lot of questions, because often that is humiliating. I agree with yes that there are many needing help. I too have seen many bashed on this site. I think I know what church your talking about. Not everyone is like that.

You can't trust them they just want to find a way to put people down. Everyone knows how poor and hungry people are here. Just go on out to the woods if your hungry and catch a deer.

Wow wrote: <quoted text>god will make sure you get whats coming to you your sarcasm is sickening Really? I was not joking. I really AM hungry and I really DON'T have anything to fix to eat. I was saying I was hungry and you turn me away and say god gonna get me what coming to me? Well I hope he brings me some food because my tummy is rumbling. No sarcasm, real hunger but reading the posts above, I can see that it has already been pointed out if one asks for help they get laughed at and accused of doing something they did not. I'll say it again, hey I am hungry give me some food. would you feel better if I said pretty please with sugar on top? As long as I can get rid of this nagging hunger then sure, I'll ask any way you want, wow. Did it help any? Probably not. Oh yeah you should not use the Lord's name in vain.God knows my heart not you, so you don't need to assume you know what goes on in my life and think you are some high and mighty person that can tell me what God gonna do, who are you to decide what God needs to do, you ain't his boss.

We are Powerhouse Ministries Freewill Baptist Church located at 1521 Mainstreet in Maynardville. We do not put anyone down for being in need, I am not rich by no means, don't have no fancy clothes and am barely making ends meet. I am a member of this church and I can assure that I have never been put down by anyone there. I have never felt more loved, and I feel that if I have a need I can ask and if at all possible, that need will be met. We are like family and we treat everyone who walks through those church doors the same way. We are not asking for phone numbers, we just want to let people know that we are going to be offering help if they need it. I'm sorry that you or someone you know has had a bad experience with this, and I can promise you that we are what we say we are. I would like to invite you to come visit our church on Sunday we have sunday school at 10a.m. and service at 11a.m. or Wednesday we have bible study at 7p.m. God Bless You.
