Maynard to Boston commute

Hi all. My wife and I are contemplating getting out of the city and into house in the burbs. Maynard is high on our list for many reasons--price point being one of them. Another is that I have heard the drive into Boston on rt. 2 is more tolerable than say 95 or 93. Thoughts?
BTW. I will be going INTO Boston around 6-6:30 and back out after 10pm, since I work evenings.
