The Salem Horse Auction has horse sales every 2nd saturday of every month. Tack starts at 2 and horses around 6pm. You can also have a coggins test on your horses that day at the barn.

That's the horse market right now, you have to pay someone else to take them.

Here is a complaint I have that would be easily remedied. They are using an obsolete public address P.A. sound system. They could pick up a better one used at a music store or pawn shop. Need new amp, microphones, and speakers. I would even consider putting wireless headsets on the ringpit crew. Seriously, better equipment wouldn't cost but a few hundred. The animals would bring higher prices with the better sound quality allowing the buyers to understand and hear what is being said. The auctioneer is good. And the kid that helps is awesome for a kid! He just needs a better microphone and speakers so people can hear his voice. The higher prices on animals would pay for the equipment upgrade quickly. Glad to see this auction doing well and providing a marketplace to give a boost to this segment of our local economy and strengthening our community ties through friendships.
