With the reduction in staff at Murray Calloway county and the reduction in services at the health department it's sad that honest hard working people are losing their jobs because of all the people that are abusing this service. Come one you lazy useless people stop abusing something that is paid for by those who have honest jobs. Yeah, get offensive cause you know it's the truth. You run to the ER ever time you got a pain and guess who pays for this, not you. Go to you family doctor. What don't you understand about ER, that stands for EMERGENCY Room, not I'm outta my pain pills. You haul your but up there at all hours of the day and night and then want to complain cause you didn't get waited on quick enough, you didn't get your pill fix, the nurse took to long to get you a pillow, cause she was actually saving someone's life. Going to the ER Isn't like wal mart it's not a meet and greet nor a big party. Just my opinion.

I agree with you 100 percent. I know people with medical cards that just go to the ER because they don't want to wait at dr office. I on the other hand who pay for health insurance have no choice but to wait til Monday after work to go to dr because my deductible is so high I cannot afford ER care... Those of us who work and barely get by get screwed.. Kinda like the line at grocery.. I pay cash and get in my 2004 chevy.. My food stamp companion in front of me with cart full of steaks and candy bars gets into their 2012 Lincoln parked next to me.

you people are crass and have no idea what its like to live on a fixed income. you cannot group all people on medicade into one group because of a handfull of deadbeats. go to the food bank and you will see ppl on food stamps trying to eat the last week of the month.judgemental calous fools you are.

So, just because you are on a fixed income, you get a medical card and abuse it? Sounds like what you are saying. You can't wait like the working person and see your doctor on Monday? No, you are probable one of those that do abuse it, no one mentioned the food bank. Most of you have numerous tattoo's, cell phones, and if you are on such a fixed income what are you doing on the Internet?

part of the reason the health dept is not getting paid is that it served patients who were, "not eligible."
Go hang out there for an hour, I think you will see why.

Even a lot of people who have insurance can't afford to have a "family doctor" because they can't afford the deductibles and co-payments. And there is this: try getting an appointment in anything less than a week. Even if you have a "family doctor" and call them, they usually say "Go to the ER."

Why can't we all just get along? I work in healthcare and I see people abuse the system. I also see people with serious health conditions that have no other choice. Does it make you feel better to anonymously belittle people? Would you like to trade places? You never know what might happen tomorrow. A terrible car accident and you could be on disability, too. Your job is not guaranteed; you could be drawing unemployment. Making people feel worse about their situation is not helping anyone or anything. I I have learned that Karma is not selective. Lift people up. Show alittle kindness. Be a positive example for others to see. Good will return to you ten fold. I will pray for your bitter heart.

Ever heard of WALK IN CLINIC? And if you can't afford a co pay at the doctors office how do you afford the copay for the ER? And it's still an EMERGENCY Room. If it ain't an EMERGENCY then why waist their time when there are people who do have real EMERGENCIES.

Boy, If we all talked to our representives, and tried to get healthcare, like other countries, instead of getting on here bashing someone for using the system! I don't have health care, i have to eat hotdogs and burger to go to the Dr. and get my medication and bloodwork, med. for life. I pay more than the insurance would. We NEED health care reform, Obama's is'nt going to work! We need insurance reform, more than anything...ooh obama! Be just like car insurance, if you got it, you have a problem...they raise your rates...what were you, paying for? We tax and taxes are blown, by the wasteful washington clan! We say nothing...Yet this person is getting help, and if her husband works and they qualify...Hey maybe they ought to kick you out... lol...if its not an emergency!

You are exactly right. I know a girl who has 2 kids and takes one or both of them to the ER almost every weekend. Since she has a medical card, she believes it is her free clinic. She brags about it. I can't believe the ER staff hasn't called CPS yet, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time before they do. It's not normal to take your kids to the ER every weekend. We work but have no insurance and have to pay cash. There are no free clinics for us! By the way, while she is in the ER with her kids, she is posting their pics on FB from her IPhone hoping for sympathy. If I had free healthcare, hundreds of dollars in food stamps a month, lived in section 8 housing while sneaking in a roommate to split the low income rent; I could probably afford an iPhone also. It's people like this that pisses off the honest people.

If such a thing is readily accessible why doesn't the doctor's office say, "Go to the walk in clinic at so and so address"?

Even better, why doesn't the hospital operate such a clinic?
