I've heard that the graves county WK&T got a $250 million grant from the tax payers & Rep.Ed Whitfield for fiber-optics LOL that why we see so much work in the county. when I called about my internet they said I could pay $20 more for DSL that they no longer offered my DSL speed. total would be $49.+$30. for the land line + taxes be over $80. do you ever feel like your being raped

Yes, because everyone doest need a land line or house phone anymore. WK Rural Telephonee was startig to hurt so they morphed into WK&T and decided to provide satelitte TV pkgs and internet service at super inflated prices. Oh, yeah, your trapped on the internet service because ATT 3G is not county-wide, MEWS is not reliable and doesn't cover the whole county either. What a sh!t hole we live in!

HECK they WK&T have a monopoly on their land lines. Have heard that they won't let AT&T or anyother phone companies use their land lines. HMMM. "Great Home Town Company" wouldn't you say??? GO FIGURE!!!

This is absolutely ridiculous. This company needs a lawsuit on their hands for how ridiculously expensive this service is. Been with WK&T for years because I'm stuck with them because nothing is offered in my area.

We have suffered long enough for having to tie a landline phone to every service they offer. I just don't understand. Landlines are depleting at a vast rate due to cell phones. Seems like the president, general manager or whoever runs this organization needs to understand change. Who is the one making the decisions there? Why don't he/she offer what their customers want? Good ole Mayfield.

They should have stuck to what they knew; telephones. The internet is terribly slow and over priced and when you contact customer service they too often have to transfer you several times bc they don't know this or that. I have lost respect and trust in this local company. I guess the managers are to busy dealing with coworkers having affairs and dont give attention to the serious problems. I am sure they have lost many customers lately....

I have went round and round with them they have lousy customer service they came out and dug a line on my property without my permission had to run off some of there so called well trained pros on more than one occassion who were all but harassing me about changing doing fiber optics. I could not afford a lawyer but they deserve to be sued. They are no longer a local service they are all about one thing money. They do not care who they crap on. Some of there boys were lucky they did not get injured tresspassing on private property. They tried to charge my service to expired credit cards. They truly do stink. We need more than one serivce carrier in Mayfield.

WK&T did not receive $250 million in grants. It was more like $60 million; the rest has to be paid back to the government, plus interest.

Believe it or not, it costs WAY more to deploy services in rural America than it does in the city. WK&T doesn't have a monopoly; it's just that no one else (AT&T included) will service the rural areas in our region.

Plus WK&T gives back to our communities. They have sponsored events and charitable organizations, as well as special programs at our schools and churches. Plus they employee local people and pay local taxes.

Just sayin.

Wrong again.

The Telecommunications Act of 1996 did away with that kind of thing, regardless of what the people at AT&T might say. The Act, signed by President Bill Clinton, represented a major change in American telecommunication law, since it allowed for media cross-ownership. According to the FCC, the goal of the law was to "let anyone enter any communications business to let any communications business compete in any market against any other." This is known as "Title 3" of the act.

In other words, AT&T can serve rural counties if they so choose. The law is on their side. However, there's no money in it, so they won't. Just be thankful you have a cooperative that stepped up and did what others would not.

AT&T used to serve Water Valley with a pkg. deal. I was told they pulled out when they discovered Water Valley was in Graves County not Hickman County. Was told later WK&T forced them out because its a private cooperative owned by the people it serves and the fine print means they don't allow outside copetition. It's my ubderstanding AT&T does serve Hickman County.

I'm sure AT&T said that, but it's not true. Again, due to laws passed in 1996, AT&T can serve whomever they want, where ever they want. They just don't want to serve the rural areas because of how much it costs. There's no money in it.

I think wk is a great company. I have never had problems with their internet. Its always working when i need it to.

Anyone know when they are flipping the switch for the fiber optics? I need the extra speed
