Remember just a few weeks ago Kim Harrison was awarded the superintendents job not because of her experience as she had none.

Her appointment according to the board members was she had earned an opportunity due to her many years of dedicated service to the Graves County School system.

The above is a summary statement released by the School Board Members who passed up several other equally if not better qualified candidate's. This was after Harrison threw a temper tantrum over not being called for a second interview.

In a few short weeks while still not officially in the Superintendent's position Harrison seems to have forgotten her other Graves County co-workers teachers with their many years of dedicated service to the Graves County School system, in fact she has turned her nose up at them.

Harrison has placed her sister-in-law in a principal position at Cuba, went out of district to place her nephew as asst. principal in the GCMS job and has know gone completely out of the county to hire the principal for Lowes.

Teachers let this be a warning to you before you invest your time and money(student loans) in continuing your education betting on a fair shake/
promotion out of the Graves County board office.

It only took Harrison a few days to start turning her back on the many applicants who have given of their time, money and work ethic to advance their education only to be snubbed by the Graves County Board Office.

If you don't believe these statements are true research how many Graves County candidates were by-passed for jobs including the superintendent and in many cases not even given interviews.

Will people ever understand that Graves is the mother of all Cliches. It is a joke. A majority at the junior high and high school level think they are the smartest people in the room.

You need to get your facts straight before babbling on this site. Kim was not yet the superintendent when these jobs were filled. And it's none of your business on how people are interviewed or hired unless you are a board member.(?)

Must have hit a nerve, time will tell and yes one would think the board members would have concerns wouldn't you. It appears the board was bullied into hiring her.

I thought the School system had an anti -bullying policy oh I forgot it only applies to the students.
Don't do as I do as I say.

I can see clearly now. Newly hired Lowes principal sister-in law works at the board office. Married to ex- Graves County Principal Gerald Ellington's daughter

Young teachers does this tell you something. No hope for Graves County employees who work their butt off to try to work their way up the ladder.
No pay raises for teachers in five years and no way to move up.

Graves County Schools for the last 50 plus years.
Status quo for the new superintendent.

Molly any comments?

None of our business you've got to be kidding right? Is it none of the labor boards business either? Maybe you should take a little of your own advice before babbling on this site!

Kim may not be superintendent yet but I believe she still has a say in who becomes principal in the schools. That's just what I've been told by people who are on those committees. I agree that graves is going no where fast. Those poor teachers that have put their heart and soul into their jobs and education to better themselves then to only be let down by those who are suppose to support then. No wonder graves is losing teachers left and right. Our schools and most importantly our kids are going to be on the losing end of this I'm afraid...

If Graves County residents would get informed on what has and is taking place in that board office
this stuff could be stopped. The old you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours has gone on long enough. Kelly Whitaker where are you? The hiring practices that just took place in your school district(Lowes) and we haven't heard a word from you. I shouldn't single her out none of the other board members haven't been heard from since being bullied by Kim to hire her. For someone who took the banner and demanded two separate schools at Fancy Farm and Lowes all the way to Frankfort surely you are aware of what took place at Lowes in the principal hiring with the SBDMC. Maybe a return trip to Frankfort by you over possible unethical practices taking place at the board office may be time well spent. Maybe you ought to get your head out of the sand and find out the facts of what just took place.

Come on people quit judging the comments it time to speak up. This kind of activity has been going on for years. These examples just happened to be the most recent and obvious examples of the kind. Reason being there has been such a turnover in the cronyism positions. This cronyism has taken place over the last 50 years plus. I'm sure if you have ever known a family member, friend, or acquaintance that has tried to get a foot in the door without ties to the board office you know what I'm talking about. It's time to stop this junk "Raise the Roof" to your school board members demanding these practices cease and if the board members don't stop the cronyism vote them out in the next election. Demand Change.

Concerned Parent I can tell your heart is in the right place but your being to na´ve.

Look at the appointments made in the last 60 days involving kin folks associated with employees in the board office.

Going out of the County for the Lowes Principal position should be a wake up call for every worker in the Graves County School System.

Everybody is entitled to their own opinion. Mine really doesn't matter however I am sick of people bashing graves county schools.if you don't like it they're are plenty of other districts that will take your child. I also don't care who gets the jobs as long as they are qualified and do a great job!!! My children all have had great teachers and great role models I am proud my children go to graves county and will continue to go to graves county. I also am an involved parent who gets to know the school, teachers and children.

Proud Mom thank you for the comments made regarding the quality of education your children have received from the teachers your children have been educated under. These comments are very appreciated.

We need help from parents like you who recognize
the dedication and hard work these teachers give everyday, year in and year out.

Here is how you can help we have people setting in the board office in leadership positions who are not nearly as appreciative to these teachers as you are. They haven't given them a raise in five years, require them to do more and more each year to the point of not being able to do it during their required normal school hours, they require them to continually update training and their education on their own time. You've read it right
no pay and no reimbursement. Most teachers each year have to spend money out of their own pocket
to provide your children with the special education you claim your children have received.

Your school board members and Board office personnel have now shown their appreciation
to these teachers by going out of district, and out of county when hiring for promotions that include pay raises.

This is the Graves County Board of Educations way of saying thank you for your service to the Graves County School system.

I know your children are the most important thing to you but your appreciation to the teachers can be shown by letting your school SBDMC, Board Member and the ungrateful Board Office that you are appalled at their continuing actions.

If the above mention of additional education is completed through college classes you are of the cost associated with this education improvement.
These classes can run in the neighbor hood of $1000.00 each and go up 9%-15% each year.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Where's Kelley ( the banner carrier ) Whittaker
carrying the banner for justice for teachers in the Graves County School system. Kelly what about a raise for all employees, better benefits and passing rules regarding fair hiring/promotion practices for vacancies that come open. Passing rules assuring Graves County School employees these jobs before going out of district out of County. I'm sure the new superintendent would support these resolutions, wouldn't she?
