Marcus Moss was the best, but Leslie Dismukes made the greatest single carry. I still remember that end around run.

Moss was an unbelieveable talent. Hard to catch and even harder to bring down. He wore #25 and had breakaway jerseys that seemingly got ripped off at least once a game.

Terrell Starks is my uncle and yes he was one of the fastest and best players mayfield has seen..dont know about the best ever, but he's up there
Where is he today? Is being a good example to you or does he shame us all. That's the problem, football stars to felons.

That's a bit of a sterotype, don't you think? I think Terrell has been in some trouble (or maybe that was Joe), but Marcus has never done anything wrong, and Joe Ford is selling insurance in Paducah. For every Pacman Jones you name, I can give you a productive citizen like Peyton Manning.

There are some players that are successful, but they were going to be successful with or without football, but you can look on the Graves Jail website and many of the Starks are in jail or have been there. That is not a stereotype, that is history. My focus really was on Starks. What does he do for income, does anyone know?

I can't believe it! 26 comments and no one mentioned Roth Stratton or Dwight Lovelace? One mentioned Robert Mayfield (the CANNONBALL)

By the way, Marcus is doing ok, last time I saw him he was living a regular joe life. I think Mayfield High should retire that #25 and maybe a few others too. Show the country that they care about who made them a football powerhouse.

The best of all time was without any doubt Marcus Moss.

He was the second most recruited player in the nation and could have played anywhere in college and he chose Murray State... where he stabbed a guy with a fork in the cafeteria and kind of messed up his career

The first most recruited player that year? You may have heard of him Hershel Walker.

one thing I do know is that its a shame Coach Morris has thrown discipline out the window and allowed the players to act like thugs who only WISH they were big time like the teams of the past. Mayfield football's days of being a dynasty are over until he gets control of the team. which I don't ever see happening.

I got a feeling some of the bad apples are gone after this season, hopefully we can get back to some normal football teams. We need to get football game attendance back up!!

I forgot about the fork-stabbing incident! That is funny stuff! Sad, but funny. Seems like Marcus was also tripped in a blatant foul during a preseason game and ended up breaking his ankle. The couldn't have helped, either.

Mayfield football is in a pathetic state. The players on that team have no respect. I have heard rumors of Coach Joe quitting, and I wouldn't blame him.

First of all he should be fired for letting Mayfield Football get to where it is today. It is pathetic and the disrespect pure tee disgust me. You have to earn respect to get it. That is what Mayfield Football has always been about. Discipline is #1 to begin with. There is none. Begins with the Coaches. There is no Coach Leahy. There is no Coach Counts. There is no Coach David Morris and no Coach Joe David Smith. Those were DISCIPLINE Coaches. I know them days are gone and we all miss them. But I forget we are in a 'MOTHERS OF AMERICA" society now. Dont dare disciline my child.
