I quit cause they went up on prices and stopped delivering on the weekends. Not really cause I couldn't afford it but cause of principle, I felt that they don't really care about the news anymore and are just getting greedy. Besides, I get all the news I want on this site, lol.

I wish they would have an online edition, this would be keeping green as we are all trying to do.

I use to enjoy the paper but it just isn't what it use to be. I also wish they had an on line edition. It seems they put stuff in there just to take up the space and nothing of any use to anyone. New idea's should be used as what they have just isn't worth the price.

Yea, They are suppose to be a local paper and while National news should be covered. The remaining 90% should be about local subjects. Which of course means of that 90% at least 70% should be about the people of Mayfield and Graves County... I'd much rather read about John Q Public of Podunk and his views on local issues or tips on growing nice Tomatos, than what they cover these days.

The school paper is better than the Mayfield Messenger. They could learn a thing or two from local students about what it means to be local.

I believe they do the best they can with what they have. A press that has been there since the 1950-60's, and a budget that has been cut multiple times and a group of employees that have not had a raise, but once or twice in almost 10 years. Don't blame them, blame the people who own them and make them run the way they do... on next to nothing. Be glad the people there care enough about the community to do what they do with what they have.

The day they printed in Union City during the ice storm looked better than usual, that's for sure.

Why can't they be that nice every day?

The Mayfield Messenger is a small town newspaper that I look forward to receiving. I enjoy the local and national news, daily forecast, editorial page, letters to the editor, sports both local and national, Dr. Donohue column, comics, crossword puzzle and classified ads. Also announcements for meetings and club organizations.

The photos submitted by schools, different clubs and individuals are printed at no charge. I appreciate this service to the community.

The Mayfield Messenger depends on subscribers and paid advertising from businesses. Please support our local newspaper and all our local businesses.

The publisher lives on Golf Cart Drive and his wife is so ugly acting. She used to be a waitress at Wilmas and I heard she use to live in a mobile home. She really thinks she is something now and that nobody remembers who she was before she married him. He is a nice guy though.

Your post has nothing at all to do with the Messenger. All that it does is degrade someone who has nothing to do with what is in the paper. Stick to the topic.

Because the press they print on is the same one they have had since they moved into that building. Also, there other papers which print the court dockets, police and fire logs. Mayfield is not the only one. The thing is, you can also go online and see who is in jail and who is up to go to court, so it isn't like they are putting something in there that can't be found elsewhere.

The reason there is not a lot in the paper is because they are limited as to what they can put in the paper because of all the closed minded people in the area who don't want change. They want things to stay as they have been there since the 60's

The Messenger is terrible and I no longer have any interest in it. It is filled with ads that take up space better used to print articles about John Doe's tomatoes which I would love to read since it would be about a local person. An on line edition would be a huge improvement as well. Why is there very few uplifting local stories printed? Do they not have anyone that can get out and interview people? It's really none of anyones business about the court thing or who's home is being sold and so forth. It's just a way to take up space. The people of Graves County should send letters to the messenger with suggestion of stories or even write their own sign it and let it be printed. Could call it GRAVES COUNTY SPEAKS or something like that. We need uplifting stories or even talk to the older people and print some of their memories of happy times here.

The best way to get the local peoples thoughts out and discuss things would be to have a regular article in the Mayfield Messenger where only local people could COMPLAIN & MOAN about things going on. So many things are hidden or either the public knows nothing about it because it is never printed then nothing gets done. If something is reported to the paper then someone could be assigned the task of gathering the actual facts and print it. Just keep religion and politics out of it. An example is the small meals served at the schools and the time of day that the children eat with nothing more till they get home. I know of one child that has to have lunch at 10:30 am and is starved by the time they get home. things like this could be discussed in the paper.
