The fines don't penalize the company, in the end it only costs customers and if the company cant pay the fines they lay off or go out of business. When is the employee making the mistake held responsible? Only by being fired! That is why its cheaper to move your business to China and send the finished product back to the U.S.
why did they move

If my info is correct, in this case the company refused to call a professional forklift maintenance repairman to do necessary repairs---and forced the employees to use

faulty equipment. So why should the employee be fired??
perhaps because his unemplyment ran out and he was forced to work for such an irresponsible company??

“Great jobs have to be safe jobs,” said Kimberly Nelson, 48, a native of Adrian, Mich., and 1981 graduate of the former DeVilbiss High School in Toledo who took over this week as area director of OSHA’s 18-person Toledo office.

OSHA sets $66,000 fine for Precision Steel Services Inc. of 31 E. Sylvania Ave. The company also was cited for a "repeat" violation -- failing to remove from service a forklift that was in need of repair.

David Kelley, president of Precision Steel Services, said the company is contesting the proposed fine and citations, and already has scheduled an informal conference with OSHA officials to do so before an independent OSHA review commission. "We certainly do intend to contest this," Mr. Kelley said. "It's important to note that [the $66,330] is just a proposed penalty."

One citation, for which the company was levied a proposed fine of $13,800, was for a forklift whose horn was inoperative, he said. "To me, that's overkill," Mr. Kelley said.

Dlubak Glass Co. is facing proposed fines in the amount of $126,700 for deliberate and recurrent Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) violations. The citation, issued for the Upper Sandusky, Ohio plant.

OSHA has cited Fry's Roofing and Construction LLC for four willful safety citations for failing to provide fall protection and ensure workers operating nail guns wore safety glasses at two separate job sites in Findlay and Toledo, Ohio. Proposed fines total $48,400.
