After listening to the Ford representative blame the American public for not buying American cars as the reason why Ford is having such a rough time, I'm more determined than ever to buy a Toyota or Honda. Does anyone remember the debacle with the Ford SUV rollover hazards a couple of years ago and Ford's "It's not our problem-blame Firestone and their tires" attitude.

Yes of COOOOOURSE. It's all Bush's fault once again. A lot easier to blame Bush than provide actual insight isn't it Steve? Last time I checked Bush wasn't running Ford. Your kind blames Bush for rainy days.
I'm very late for work, gotta run - I'll just tell my boss it was Bush's fault.
As much as you defend him, you must be on "W"'s payroll.

My heart goes out to every single Ford worker who is being affected by this. Unfortunately, FORD has no one to blame but themselves. I will never ever buy a Ford product ever again after my wife purchased a Ford Focus. I have a Toyota Corolla and my Toyota is 3 years older than her Focus was and it is STILL running great. Basic maintenance on the Ford was always considerably more than my Toyota. Each time the oil needed to be changed on the Ford, it always cost 6-10 dollars MORE because of the oil needed: 5W-20 and many places don't have it in bulk, so they charge you by the quart. Tires: pretty much the same size, but yet, it cost about $10-15 more per tire.
It's the small stuff like that deterred me from Ford forever. Not to mention the "wear and tear", which happened sooner on the Focus.
So, we bought a HYUNDAI because of the quality and features for the price. I will continue to buy Toyota as well.
Ford and Chrysler need to wake the hell up -- like yesterday. If you were building a better and more quality product, you wouldn't be where you are today. People work hard for their money and the "Buy America" isn't good enough anymore. Not when it's crap.
Why are you throwing Chrysler in with Ford? I see way more Chryslers on the road than Ford. Must be true-Ford is Found on Road Dead.

Keep laying off workers and closing plants and no one in the US will be able to buy a Ford. End free trade, and support American jobs, save the loyal companies and let the importers with American names go to hell!!!!

Aside to Mars Bonfire...delusional paranoia, hatred and stupidity killed MLK JFK RFK...the same partisan crap that is making Iraq an abyss, if your not for me your against is just plain crap! Grow up stop blaming others for whats wrong and do something! Do you know where the last thing you purchased is made? Are you willing to vote? First step is get informed! Stop ranting ridiculous conspiracy nonsense and look in the mirror. If you want American industry to survive, be proactive. Support community industries, shops, and vendors. Say goodbye to Walmart, and cheap slave made Chinese stuff. Don't be fooled by foriegn companies assembling a collection of Asian parts in a factory with Americans making $8.00 an hour as "American Made". Put your money where you're mouth is and walk the walk!

C'mon Disillisioned, you're an intelligent guy. You know full well I wasn't defending Bush; I was attacking Steve D's stupid bumper-sticker statement that Ford's failure is Bush's fault. If you read my posts I have never had a problem admitting Bush has been a big disappointment to me. But not everything is as simplistic as Stupid Steve D makes it out to be and I told him so. Actually I don't know why I bother to respond to some of these shuffling corpses. Some of the people on these forums (Steve D, "Akron", etc.) are just in it for the typing practice. They never discuss or debate, they just come to stir up trouble... the 'Topix' equivalent of what happened at that teen club Ponio's (or whatever it's called) the other night.

I wonder if Mr. Disillusioned also heard the comments from one the Japanese Owners of Firestone saying how they could not get the American Firestone workers to follow instructions make the tires correctly. I may have the relationship of the Japanese Board member of Bridgestone tires who I believe at the time was the parent company of Firestone. I heard this on a radio at the time of the problems so it is vague memory now. Oh I think the Japanese make excellent autos, but I think Americans do also.

I also must agree with the person who said Ford was out of touch with the market and made ugly cars nobody wanted. The last good looking Ford in my opinion until the last couple of years was the T-Bird, not the one they try to make retro. Ford is coming out with some nice cars now, the Focus, the Edge, and the new Taurus.
