Charlies Dodge - Maumee

BEWARE! If you do business at Charlies Dodge in Maumee, you may want to take your business elsewhere. My husband & I have been doing business at Charlies Dodge for the better part of 4 years. My husband, Jeff has had his Dodge truck serviced there nad they have looked at the problems concerning the problems w/his vehicle. I have purchased "Dodge" items for my husband there as well. Actually my father purchased parts there for several years. Jeff had even been over to the lot to discuss purchasing a new truck and having a dump bed installed from there as well. We have always been loyal and curtious custmers. And that's why this is so disturbing. A couple of days ago, Jeff was taking his truck in for another reoccuring problem. He dropped his truck off Thursday afternoon and later was doing a deposit for the bank when he remebered he had left $130.00 of customer payments in his truck. He immediately called Charlies Dodge to let them know he was coming right away because it was close to closing. The service dept told him he could not come now as it was almost 5:30 and they were closing. Jeff told the employee the reason he needed to come(that $ was in the truck) but they still insisted, no. Jeff told them then they better pull the truck in so nothing would happen. They said they would. First thing Friday morning Jeff was there to pick up the $ and it was GONE! He talked with a supervisior(The son of the owner)who was very rude to him! Getting nowhere,I guess the owner called Jeff at some point. He was even more rude than his son!!! He would not even listen to Jeff trying to explain and he also said there was nothing wrong with the truck either. I was so astonished at Charlies Dodges' customer service and behavior I went w/ Jeff to pick up his truck. At that time I asked to speak with the owner or his son. I let him politely know that I didn't appreciate his attitude and lack of concern and that we had been customers of his for years. I told him if I treated my clients that way I wouldn't have any. his attitude only got worse! He accused us of losing the $ or worse, lying about it even being there and more or less said Jeff was immagining the truck problems. Unbelievable! Finally I told him I expected him to do something and wanted an apology for their poor customer service and rudeness. He said they would do nothing. I asked him then that he would rather lose loyal customers than to make things right? He said finally(in a nasty tone), "Well, I'll take care of the $100.00 deductible, if you never come back here." "You are not welcome here!" Jeff and I were both appauled. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and have noticed there have been 3 others in the last 3 years as well. If you ever have a complaint againt Charlies Dodge...please speak up. I think it is just appauling that they treat customers, and people in general the way they do. They money wasn't the point, but the way we were treated.

Wow scary...Thanks for the warning!! I always do my homework before a major purchase...BBB, online or wherever I can. Not a good way to do business, huh?

Wow, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if a lawsuit was filed against you by Charlies Dodge, and I certainly hope you have documentation to back up your accusations.

Thank you for your reply. I am truly glad to hear you are a satisfied customer and I hope you will continue to be as well.I wouldn't wish this on anyone. We were also good customers for years. Lawsuit? On what grounds? I am only telling the truth and how we were made to feel and treated. That certainly is not against the law. Just for the record, at 9:45PM tonight were contacted by phone by the service mgr at Charlies Dodge and were ripped again for a 1/2 hr. This after we only had good things to say about him and his service in the past. He was never mentioned in this situation. Our problem was with the owners, not him. Untill now. It was 10:10PM when my husband finally told him it was late...he was hanging up. And yes, I have documentation. Thanks again.

I have nothing but good to say about Charlie's Dodge, they have sold and serviced my cars for 22 years. There must be other issues that you are not mentioning. The owner has helped me out on a few occasions and I have always found him to be a fair man.

did you contact your salesperson , sometimes they can help with service issues ?

sounds to me like the wife isnt getting the whole story. i would think with video cameras running you would be able to see if someone took something. the old man probably lost it in a poker game.

i really despise people who screw up and try and scam the system. i bet you go to restraunts and complain about the food so you can get a free meal. sorry i work in retail and see that the story is never right with the family.

I'm siding with you, annjeff. I have been in the service industry for years and someone there should have at least showed some concern even if they wouldn't try to resolve it. They should be doing that for a new customer and especially for an established one like yourself. That's only common sense and good business practice. I'm sorry you were on the receiving end of bad customer service!

Sounds to me like you have a legitimate gripe! If a company treated me that way I'd be hacked too. Hope you have some luck with the BBB and you should contact Dodge/Chrysler.

Sounds like the husband and wife are trying to pull a fast one if the cameras do not show anyone getting in the veh then what else is there to say they probably left it at home then realized it afterwords so they decided to cause a fuss about it so they didnt look stupid when they went in to pick there truck up. i also work in retail and believe that there is some kind of alterior motive. this story sounds like someone trying to get something for nothing we see it every day in the retail business

There's always (2) sides to every story and if Charlies Dodge knew the power of the internet, whether wright or wrong they should have defended themselves also money is not the issue here, common courtesy to investigate whatever the problem was, you loose money going through the car wash if your stupid enough to leave it out in the open, but to loose a loyal customer and word of mouth is very lethal, if indeed they had been as they say they we're. Common sense is all it takes now a days to navigate through life's ups and downs. Investigate before you invest the time, money and effort, and stop blaming others for your own mistakes and problems.

Well not to happy with sevice ..and would not put past take money I order part still have not received it two weeks ago cost e over $500 dollars and they coould they care less if I get everyday get same answer...beware get parts somewere else ...
