Yeah but Jesus doesn't follow his own commandments.
He turned the other cheek at the cross instead of saving himself from the cross - for us.

He loves and gives all the chance to open their hearts to receive His love.

But if love did not have a chance to be ultimately spurned, it would not be true love.

Most every religion also believes that if I am not a beliver in THEIR "TRUE" religion I will go to HELL as well. Now you tell me just who is right! Me or the rest of them. No thank you I have seen hell, and hell is woman loved, I am here now when I die it will peace, peace from you and all those other bible toting a$$holes in this world. Oh, also peace from the agony of loving someone that don't give a flying sh!t about you unless you can help her in some way. Well I cannot help her right now but I am going to die and I am paying $300.00 a month on a $500,00.00 life insurance policy that does NOT contain her name.
You may not accept it, but I have prayed for you, and I'm sure others have prayed as well that see this forum. I wish that someone in your community could help in a more tangible way.

Who gives a fugg? So he "died" only to come back to life a few days later, fly to Heaven and be proclaimed King of the Universe. Doesn't sound like a bad deal to me.

Also, you still haven't provided a single shred if credible evidence that your fairy tale is true.

I will admit one thing, I was once faced with death and everyone prays to GOD when they are faced with death...just in case. You know the old saying 'there are no atheist's in a foxhole' that is true. When you are faced with death you grab at any straw you can...even your fairy tale GOD. I once wrote a thesis for college in which I proved that there is no HELL, therefore there must be no Heaven! I will re-write it here if anyone wants proof. By the way it was the only A+ in the entire session for that school year!

That may be true for you, but there are atheists, believe it or not, that are faced with death and never once even consider a god's existence. I've spoken with atheists who have said the complete opposite of what you've said - that they themselves were the proverbial atheist in a foxhole. You may say they were lying or whatever, but none of us can really judge what anyone else is truly thinking.

I'd like to think that when I die, I will be able to do it without appealing to any mythical beings myself. To quote Glen Benton, "Go fuck your God will be my final words."

Interesting, why do you think there is that instinct to pray to God in a crisis if there is no God? If people do that "just in case", why not read the stories of Jesus in the Bible to see what Jesus says about himself and what he does for people, and go to a good Bible church that teaches and proclaims this Jesus, for a whole year ----- "just in case"?

That way, at the end of those 365 days, you could honestly say to yourself, hey I tried this and it didn't work.
Experiences as a child growing up wouldn't count in this case because you didn't know any better. THIS time, you can honestly try it with an open mind, following Christians, studying the Bible and participating in church ---- for a year --- " just in case"

A year would make it so you wouldn't miss anything concerning the whole experience.

Because they've been taught to. In societies where people aren't taught there is a God, they have no such "instinct."

Simple for the same reason that Sir Winston Churchill was not a believer, however, on his death bed he asked for God's forgiveness just in case. I can't give a direct quote but his words went something similar "I have done my job in htis life, now it's time for him to do his".
Now according to your bible if I ask for I shall receive forgivness. So I'm going to continue as I feel. There is no God. However, just to cover all my bases and if I really thought I was going to die I would do just that, ask for forgiveness. Now I can't say everyone who does not believe would pray in the same situation, I just don't know. But, I can say that I "HAVE" been in that hole and I did pray. I don't believe but just in case I wanted my ass covered! I have done what was asked of me, went to war, raised a family, never done any harm to anyone, outside what I was ordered to do the same as thousands before me, just so we could have this debate. I have harmed no one yet you think that I'm going to hell just because I don't believe in your God. Now you tell me what kind of God would deny me paradise the way I have lived, your God, if so he doesn't deserve to be believed in! Of all the religions in this world and all the religions that say if I don't believe their way I'm going to hell, who's to say which religion is correct, yours. You better hope that the Islamic faith, or the Jewish faith is wrong just for your sake. ow I have told you how I feel and I shall not debate the issue further, to do so is a waste of my time. Your words cannot change me. However, if I do have a "life altering" experience you will be the first to know.

Why don't you try being Jewish for a year? Or a Moslem? Or Hindu? Or Wiccan? Maybe after a year of really trying, you'll feel even better than when you were a Christian? Hey why not worship Zeus, or Ra for a year before writing them off?

I will make you a deal I will try yours for a year if you can try mine for a year, deal. Otherwise leave me alone my views on religion are mine and not yours to attempt to change or modify. After all Jesus was a Jew so where to you figure christians are "the religion".

By the way Ohio I am back. My wife has been giving her views for a few weeks now. But, alas, no mind altering experiences during my illness. But I did have several near death experiences but no lights, no hell just, well there is really nothing to tell I don't remember anything while I was out. Sorry, maybe next time.

I've seen so much anguish and torture in this life that there cannot possibly be a God out there anywhere! I've had nightmares for 43 years now and some nights I pray, just in case, that I don't wake up the next day so that I don't have to start all over again. God, I hope you find'em and if you do it'll be in some back alley shooting craps with Satan!

Jesus is My Hero...period.Not my religion.I am a Christian.(Christ Follower)Noone has loved us more than HE.....The Holy Trinity..The Father,The Son,and His Holy Spirit,That He sent from heaven when he died on that Cruel Cross To Save us sinners. He died that we might have Life,And Life more abundantly. When Jesus died he accended up to heaven. And HE is sitting at the right hand of God, Still Praying for us ALL.He sent his Holy Spirit(THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH) TO EARTH to Be OUR HELPER. All we have to do is recieve HIM by Faith. And he indwells us.God didnt make us all robots People,he gave us a choice.God Loves us.You wouldnt want to MAKE Someone Love you, would you? Thats why God lets us make our own choice's.He want us....AS HIS CHILDREN TO CHOOSE HIM,yES,gOD HAS RULES.HE GAVE us the ten commandments to live by.HE IS A HOLY GOD,AND always has been,I know its tough living here in this world of SIN,But he wishes for US to be OVERCOMER'S.That is,to overcome sin in the world,we are in the world,But WE are not OF the world,Yes,we do have to live here. And sometimes it isnt easy, but we have HOPE..So......if i am an idiot in some of your eyes, that is ok with me:) i am a fool for him.And what other people think..its ok,cause what matters MOST TO ME......is what he thinks.I wasnt ALWAYS A CHRISTIAN,but when you go thru hard times.God has a way of speaking to us and getting our ATTENTION.God does use PAIN AND SORROW AT TIMESTo draw us to HIM....give me Jesus anyday!!!I hope the best for you all.....AMEN
