Harris Teeter In Talks To Sell Company

"The Company intends to continue its strategic new store growth plan and maintain the employment of its associates in its stores, and its distribution and manufacturing facilities in Indian Trail, Greensboro, and High Point, North Carolina, as well as at its corporate headquarters in Matthews, North Carolina," the company wrote in a news release.

I will not be surprised if a high end market like Wegmans purchases Harris Teeter. They are both fine high-end markets in two different regions of the country. As long as the quality is there, I am happy.

You are not starting anything. I never heard of Wegmans until I transferred to the University at Buffalo. Wegmans goes far south as Virginia. Harris Teeter goes Far North as Virginia. The merger makes sense if you are a higher-end shopper. I have a sister-in-law who manages a BB&T bank in Buffalo and her husband is a Manager for Wegmans. I see a transfer in their future.

i hate the university, their recruitment process, and how they screw serious students over thugs. That is all I can say without having attorney's come after me. The Buffalo winters did not bother me at all. But, I do have in-laws up Buffalo who would like an opportunity to transfer 'if' the buyer is Wegmans.

Its going to be Publix, not Wegmans. Although that would be a good idea.

Rice University in Houston has an excellent academic reputation, they compete in various sports, but the only sport they excel in is baseball.Has about four thousand students.

I am shocked that a school that small is that successful. I am always amazed when Wake Forrest, Rice, and Northwestern are successful. You are right, their baseball program is pretty hot.

I am partial to urban larger schools like Boston University, NYU, etc... That is an awesome collegiate experience.

The University of Texas has around fifty thousand students.I live down the road from Texas A and M, with around thirty eight thousand enrolled.Austin, with it's music scene and rolling hills, is a town of 750,000 that feels young.Dell computer is located near Austin.

Rice has had the same baseball coach for around thirty years.It's located in the Museum District in Houston, which you probably know has a population of 2.1 million.The Astros, masochists at heart, are now in the American League where they expect to get pummeled by the Rangers and Yankees.I always go downtown and take in a few games.There's a lot to do in Houston,I especially like the Galleria.

We moved to the South from the Jersey Shore. We almost moved to Houston. I am sure we would have loved it. But, we chose Charlotte because of the lower crime statistics and state tuition rates. It is a lousy state for pro sports, but a nice place for the college competitions; NC State, USC, Clemson, ECO, UNC, Duke, Charlotte (soon), Davidson, and Wake Forest are all a short drive away.

But, I am sure Houston is an awesome town.
