At 12 cents it cost more in gas to get to Indiana than you would save.

the one in steger finally caught on..up till there latest drop, Indiana gas was as much as 45 cents a gallon cheaper than anywhere around here. Its nothing but greed, and I refuse to pay these greedy gas owners and travel 15 min to indiana for all my needs and save mch more than the the gallon of gas i use to get there.
People need to start waking up, Cook county needs to do the same. Quit giving to the lazy and give some relief to the people struggling at their 40 hr/week jobs just to make it.

I hate high gas prices like everyone else but I refuse to get overly upset at gas prices. We're whining about $4 gas prices, when that's been the normal price in Europe for decades. So why was Europe so expensive while the US was sliding by on ultra-cheap gas for such a long time? And in Europe, there's amazing public transportation to get everywhere. I took a trip in the UK and never needed to rent a car, travelling from one end of the country to the other.
Why should gasoline, that started as crude oil under an Arabian desert, cost less than a dozen organic eggs from a neighborhood farmer? Or less than a gallon of orange juice from Florida? Takes alot of money to get gasoline from under the ground into our tanks!

whos whining? i said I go to Indiana because theyre not ripping people off like their illinois neighbors. And its priced the way it because we also have oil fields in various areas of the country. Go to Iraq and gas is under a dollar a gallon..hell even mexicos is half the price...

Taxes my friends! Cook County is one of the most heavily taxed counties in the country. I am glad I live across the street from Will County. Cheaper smokes at least. I wonder why gas wouldn't be cheaper. Now it is! The Citgo on 1 is at $3.74.'Bout time. And yes, we pay less than other countries but not as low as the major oil producers. We just don't have the reserves and output capacity like OPEC countries. No point in complaining, it is what it is. We can make a difference by driving a hybrid, living and working close to public transportation and so forth. But we as a country love our big ass vehicles!

But we as a country love our big ass vehicles! You are so right!! When I went to the UK, it was amazing how small the cars seemed! No one drove SUVs, the only people who had pickups were the farmers. The best part was the lack of "sprawl". Even the small towns were compact. Every town had their own grocery store, lots of small mom and pop stores, people lived walking distance to the stores and to the schools. There weren't hundreds of parents driving kids to and from schools miles away. Lots of people walking all over, which made the stores successful. Man, it really makes you look at life in the US differently. And I'm as guilty as the rest -- I have an inefficient macho sports car and a big ass pickup truck....
