Forgive and forget that she took $25,000 from these kids??? She needs to be locked up! Once again the citizens of Mathis have been fooled. She's kicking back laughing at all of you cause she's getting away with NOT even a slap on the hand. How can you be ok with that??? Why do you care about her?? Did she care about these kids including her own enough NOT to steal?? Ummm NO!!!

Shut up already and go do something. They said you can go and file. You had two days of crying, go do it. You know all the people to contact, if you want to teach the kids, then teach them....and go! If you need $ for gas I will give it to you, but go! If you need some stones to throw, I will give them to you, but go. In the end I am sure I am SURE you will just reply with pissed off words, and you WON'T go!

I heard so many complaints but yet was confused when I read the newspaper state that Mathis High School band booster members voted Monday night in favor of not seeking charges against the clubÂ’s treasurer, who is suspected of having taken at least $25,000.
And I was confused by the newspaper report that $17,000 was returned last week, buy as of Monday night, all that remained to be repaid was 800.
So this lady has a payment plan to repay?
I sincerely hope these students get to go on their planned trips. And I hope that the booster members decide on creating better policies about handling booster monies.

Do your own work,

If you don't like what is being said then why do you read it.

If my child was in a band I most definately would 'do my own work' and I wouldn't stop until the person responsible for stealing the money was behind bars.

The mentality of the majority of the people in this community is insane. They have no morals, no pride or anything. It's sad really sad.

The people in positions of power in this town only care about themselves and their families. They're letting this town sink.

I'm glad my family and I are moving once school is over. Parents if you have children in the Mathis School District consider moving them. Dr. Casas doesn't care about these kids, that's been proven more than enough times already .

This is what I don't understand, the people that can't do anything because they weren't directly effected by this want to see justice for these kids but the people who can won't do anything (minus the one mother who was willing to stand up for her child). I just don't understand this town, if this was any other town she would of been charged already. I am glad you are getting yourself and your kids away from this town, your children will never learn right from wrong if you don't. I got away from there and have been the happiest I have ever been since I did, I wish I could convince the rest of my family to do the same.

I stood up for my daughter. Still trying to do something. Calling DA again. I went to file charges and they said case closed. I don't know what else to do. I can file civil suit but that comes out of my pocket.

"I want justice" You stood up for your daughter, and you did good! The band boosters got most of the money and I'm assuming its because you all banded together and put pressure, for the return of the money. Where THEY got the money, doesn't matter. Someone said it was donated. What I can see is the the Donation could have gone directely to the band boosters, but it was a heart felt donation to the DeLeon Family, to help them.
When you say that you are still trying to do something... like perhaps filing a police report and calling the DA office again and again because you want justice.... is your daughter not going to the Disney trip or any other trip, because of the money taken? I don't understand. At least this is what I!M assuming, that she is not going and that is why you want JUSTICE. Now on the other hand...
at the very begining a couple of you could have filed and proceded to the DA Office, if your PD just set the matter aside. If the DA said the case is closed, and you really just want to take legal action, because its a committed a felony, then band together, come up with the $$$ to file a civel suit. If not at this point its wasted energy.
Also some said they "I would NEVER.. I was brought up by the 10 comandments and values" You should never say "NEVER' THOSE that see themselves as high and mighty will be the first to fall!!!

Oh please! We're all adults here, so can we just stop using childish religious warnings of gloom and doom to try to make people feel guilty about wanting to see criminals justifiably punished?

It's totally absurd to tell parents that want to do the right thing to hire an attorney at their own expense to bring these thieves to justice! Where is your criticism of an organization, a school district, and a local police department that failed the students and the community? Settling for paying the money back does not mean a very serious crime wasn't committed by these people, and THAT is what people want justice and accountablity for! That is how law-abiding societies live. Citizens obey the laws of this country and state, and if they choose to break the law they suffer the consequences. Most of us learned that at a young age.

So enough with the scare tactics, and the sympathy voices. It's disgusting! There is no argument that can excuse this crime or the thieves. It was their choice.

Guess so, or maybe they're just moving on to the next felony scandal. Carry on Mathis. Sound's like more of the same to me. When leader's won't lead, what do you really expect? What's happening in your little town is so pathetic one doesn't know whether to laugh or cry. It's such a circus over there, you all should just sell tickets.

Well, it's close-of-business on Monday, the deadline for the DeLeons to return the other $8,000 (Don't know how a lady with a Ph.D calculated that since the treasurer stole $25,000...thank God she's not a financial advisor); has the money been returned? Or do we have another anonymous donation that's getting this crime absolved?
From what I hear, her daughter is the new finance director for Mathis ISD so the legacy continues. Good luck Mathis, you are going to need it.

It's so sad that people can't hold more pride in thier "Home Town." My Daddy told me "Your word is your Honor, If you give away your Honor - WHAT'S YOUR WORTH?" Maybe I'm just crazy - but Should we teach OUR CHILDREN the same thing?
Not the lesson learned from this - Stupidity!! IT'S OKAY TO BE DISHONORABLE, YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH IT!!!
