What is the lastest info on this new school? I have not heard what the mascot will be or color, or anything else.

I think the colors are tarheel blue, black, and white. And it's either the minors or spartans.

I think it will be very interesting to see what kind of athletic teams come from this consolidation. Where in Mingo Co. is this school going to be located?

On the new King Coal Highway between Taylorville and Ben Creek.

The away games will be a chore. Huntington, Charleston, Beckley. Long drives on a Friday night in the fall or a weekday night in the winter.

I am very glad that all of my children are already graduated. I trully feel sorry for the parents of the kids that will be consolidated. and also I heard that they were going to be behind scedule anyway. i heard that there was a huge slide and messed some of the road bcak there up and also that they were stalled because they can't pave it and they had already paved alot of it , but they have to put concrete back there not asphault. People think about it , the Coal Mines ( many different ones) has already did their long walling and sunk roads/ wells/ creeks and streams and they are building a King Coal Highway 4-lane on it. Yes I agree that the 4-lane will be faster access to alot of places . I just don't see how it aint all going to start dropping and slipping. Look already at what damage this " King Coal Highway " has caused with all the flooding in the past 15 months. The gas well roads that caused part of the flooding was because they gas companies had to re-route their gas pipe-lines. Soemtimes I wonder what this will cause in the future also. But yeah I also think there will be LOTS of fights at this new school , because if you think about it .... it will be like a school full of gangs . In one corner of the school you will have the Tigers / then the Lions / then the Wolf-pack / then the Bulldogs . I mean what else do they expect to happen . These schools don't get along now at all. I feel so sorry for the kids that will have to go to school there and for their parents.

Humm,
You're missing the point. It will go both ways. Visiting teams will have to travel TO the new school. You have no idea where it is. Many who are familiar with the area aren't 100% sure where it is because there is no public access to the area of the job site yet

I was at the site the other day. The only access to the school is through a guard shack and then a six mile drive along the road construction site. Unpaved or graveled. Very rough and dusty then very slick and muddy after brief rain shower.

The "NEW" road they are talking about will be nice when completed....but.....It's in the middle of nowhere going nowhere. The drive from four lane RT 119 to the "NEW" road will be an eye opener for many visiting teams.

On the positive side. The view from up on the road and school site will be unbelievable. You're up on a long ridge with view of mountains in all directions. After the rain the hills and valleys were covered in fog. Could be a negative in the years to come if and when the road is complete.
