In case some of the people pay not know, Joshua Simpkins a conviced felon was released from jail not to long ago. The "Honorable" Judge Thornsbury and the "Dumb Ass" County Commissioners that we have elected gave him a county job in the county garage, helped him buy a car & now look where he is. Hes been booked back into the SWVRJA for stealing pills & whatever else was in the police cruiser that he was working on!! If thats the kind of treatment a conviced felon gets, maybe everyone should grow a lil pot & get themselves a good paying job with the county! Hell, for a while he was driving a county vehicle home of the evenings!! I think everyone should voice their opinions to the Judge and the Commissioners on what a terrible mistake they have made, trying to help this boy out!!.. && yes, it is true. You can go to www.wvrja.com & pull up the records for yourself. He was booked yesterday morning. GOOD JOB JUDGE & COMMISSIONERS FOR SUCH A DUMB ACT!!..

well let me just say, all convicted felons should not be judged based on what one person has done, I myself have never been unfortunate enough to have to spend time at swrj however I do know a few that have, someone should not be judged for mistakes they made years ago when they were young and dumb or for that matter I thought the purpose of sending someone to jail was so they could pay their debt to society and the reason most of them end up back is because narrow minded people that refuse to give them a chance to become a productive member of society. They should not continue to be punished once their debt has been paid give them a chance to prosper. As for Josh Simpkins he should have known better and it is no excuse but from what ive heard he has had a very hard life that is no excuse and he should pay for what he has done, but I hope and pray the judges and commissioner dont make too much out of this isolated event so that some convicted felon out there that wants to get out and do right isnt punished once their debt has been paid

How is it that you people judge all the politicians because one of them namely Hootie owed some piece of crap that will never change a favor or his family for voting for him. That's the routine vote for me I'll do what I can, when I can, when you need it. It is not usual practice to do a complete background check on every new employee hired and I am sure Mike was given the A OK from Hootie. Mike leads a very busy life and the job he has doesn't allow him the ease of getting to run around almost everyday. Think before you blame and put it where it should lie.

I can tell you now that you must be an idiot because nobody can change the address under their name on their own. And I have no idea who any of them are. I simply think that you need to leave the blame where it lye's. The cases the judge rules on are either jury trials or judged by him. If someone has already been put in jail by the judge and they hire a lawyer and they go to the prosecutor and negotiate getting out or just get out. The judge doesn't hire workers, the county commissioners are the ones who hire and make all these unneeded jobs. I'd say the judge has enough on his plate without all this drama. We have what, four county commissioners and I think two would suffice fine.

I saw in newspaper where the judge did let the people in jail get out and work for the county to try and rehabilitate them. It's not his fault or the county commissioners fault if any of them mess up. They are trying to give them a second chance.

The judge sponsors and is behind the inmate work program, where the inmates of the jail go out ever so often and do trash and other details the county needs done instead of the tax payers having to foot the bill. Whereas, the county commission is constantly in the process of making up new jobs that the citizens get to be taxed to pay for. Usually these jobs go to relatives or girl friends or someone they owe a favor. We all know this type of thing goes on all the time and it always will.

Don't you think they should have to work somewhere so they can pay their debt to society. Most people won't let them work because they are criminals. So who cares if it's a relative or whoever is letting them work.

Oh yes I'm for them repaying society in any way they can. My point was that the judge was for them doing this for the county as repayment instead of some needless job being made up to cost us more. All I care about is if they are making a job for us to have to pay for it in taxes. I'm sure the rest of the county feels the same as I, unless I guess it's their relative they're making the job up for.

Then you are talking about a whole different topix this one is jail birds getting to work.

First off the topix was started accusing the judge of putting these 'jailbirds' in these jobs, all I was trying to tell you was what he is involved with and just EXACTLY who it is that give these 'jailbirds' their jobs. They are lucky that these convicts didn't cut their brake lines in order to get even or some sort of crap like that. I bet a couple of incidents like that and they wouldn't be letting them near their cars.

i agree, they shouldnt let felons any where near the police cruiser in that garage, what better way to get revenge on the office that arrested you? i heard he stole drugs out of a police cruiser the policman reported it so they drug tested him and guess what the drugs that he was missing were the only drugs in the boys system, besides who gets busted with 2. so many millons of dollars of marijuana an then gets out of jail in 6 months? i know i would have to suck a lotta peter to get treated that well, and if i ever get in trouble as soon as i get out i wanna job too hootie

You'll never get any of them to admit guilt, I just have watched the system for a while now.

We all know where Charles Manson can get a job if he ever is parolled. The Simpkins kid was driving a county vehicle home when he started. yep, he would leave early and come home late so that no one would see him. He even told this to us. The county commission gave him a county vehicle to drive and gas. We the citizens paid for it. We need to vote out John Mark this time and get Dave the next!
