Beware dropping off anyone in front of Pathmark on RT 9. There is a police Detective in an unmarked car just waiting to write you up. I dropped my wife off, who is severely handicapped by the shopping carts . She needs the assistance of the cart so she doesn't fall and I waited till she safely entered the store and it was raining that night. He didn't care. He is there all the time and is all over the place giving out tickets. I assume he is on overtime since why would a Detective be hawking tickets instead of being assigned investigative work. Nice allocation of manpower Old Bridge. He surely is bringing in a lot of revenue for the township. It's quite obvious that's the reason he is there.

I read about this on another blog. I agree with one post: Don't the police have anything else better to do? What about going after REAL criminals? Is this Pathmark management's way of "protecting" the area since that horrible shooting almost a year ago? Get real, OB Police!

No, I checked with the manager and he did not request or was aware of police presence. If that was the case a marked patrol car would be a better deterrent than an unmarked car that would arrive after an incident occurred. I am waiting a call from manager's boss and will suggest a drop off spot in front of the store for handicapped and elderly patrons. T

Since when is it against the law to give someone a ride to the store?

I would assume they were parking in a fire lane...which is illegal.

Funny though...I see lots of cops park in fire lanes while they run into stores to buy stuff. Like their car couldn't also get in the way of a fire truck attempting to to out a fire if one where to happen...
